Simple Plan shed light on upcoming single and already released songs

In another interview from Open Air Gampel in Switzerland, Pierre and Jeff got talking a little bit more about what all the fans are excited the most about: the new album. The band has been working on it for almost two years now and only recently started releasing first songs that may appear on it. And while the songs Saturday and Boom were sometimes mistakenly called the first singles, the boys confirmed in this interview that this is not really the case.

Check out what Jeff had to say about the released songs, upcoming first single (coming out in October/November) and the concept of its video and finally the new album’s release:

“We’re basically giving songs away right now to our fans because we wanna be kind of forgiven for taking that long to put the record out, so Saturday was one of the first, you know, releases. It’s not necessarily a single, you know, it’s just a song that we gave to our fans. Same thing with Boom. And our single is actually going to come out probably in November. So we just shot a video for it, we shot a video for Boom as well. Boom is really just a fun performance in our hometown in Montreal with crazy fans, you know, going nuts for the show. And I would say the next song, I almost named it but it’s a secret still, is a pretty funny video, you know. It’s kind of a spoof on a funny TV show. That’s as much as I’m gonna say now. So, basically, we’re just gonna release songs until we actually get to the single and then to the record. The record’s probably gonna come at the end of the year or the beginning of 2016.”

VIDEOS: More interviews from European tour

Europe has been pretty blessed with some amazing interviews in the past couple of days. Check out the following two interviews taken at the Frequency Festival in Austria and also at the Open Air Gampel in Switzerland, featuring Chuck and Sebastien:

Backstage at Reading and Leeds

Simple Plan spent the past two days on their first ever visit of the Reading and Leeds festivals in the United Kingdom, where they gave the crowd some amazingly energetic performances. And while you’ve already seen some live shots from Reading and we’re still waiting for some new images from Leeds, below you can check out some pictures from the backstage of there two British festivals – in Reading for example, Chuck, Pierre and Sebastien were supposed to draw what Reading means to them and in Leeds, the band mostly celebrated David’s birthday:

But besides pictures, the first interview from SP’s stay in the UK is finally up! Check out this one from Kerrang, in which Chuck and Seb talk about what it’s like to finally be at Reading and what they think music means to the local people:

REVIEW + PHOTOS: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Simple Plan left from Antwerp in the night and got to Amsterdam a few hours later. The fans started lining up around Paradiso around mid-day and around 4pm some of them were let in for the soundcheck.

Since Paradiso used to be a church, the interior featured incredible stained glass on the windows and two sets of balconies on top of each other, which were underlit by gorgeous strings of light bulbs.

The sold-out show itself started later that evening, once again with The Overslept as the opening act. Simple Plan’s show started half an hour after The Overslept finished their set and the setlist was the same as in Antwerp:

Setlist: Amsterdam, Netherlands (26/08/2015)

You can check out some of my pictures from the soundcheck and the show itself in the gallery (along with pics from DuchScene.nl):

INTERESTING SCOOPS FROM THE SHOW:
– Pierre’s family (wife Lachelle and daughters Lennon and Soren) were present at the show and watched the first part of it from the balcony
– during Summer Paradise, Pierre’s daughters helped kick the inflated beach balls into the crowd with the help of Pierre and his bandmates (see the gallery for pictures)
– it might have been the first time David and Pierre actually publicly shared a kiss on the lips live on stage

To me personally, this might have been the best Simple Plan show I have ever attended: the band was fantastic and so was the amazing crowd. And finally, you can check out some of the forementioned interesting scoops on the two videos below:
