Simple Plan film music video for “Boom” on Warped Tour!

Even though Simple Plan’s first officially released song from their upcoming yet-untitled fifth album was the song “Saturday”, the band has already confirmed many times in the past that this song will not be the first official single from this new album. Instead, the honors of being the first official single will go to “Boom”, which Simple Plan first premiered acoustically at their Simple Plan Foundation event last year and since July also performed it a couple times live and non-acoustically. It has been confirmed by a number of tweets [1, 2, 3] that Simple Plan filmed the Warped Tour crowd in Detroit, MI during “Boom” for their new music video.

And that’s not all! It seems the video will not only consist of the shots of the crowd and the band (as it was for example in “The Rest Of Us” music video), but it may also feature some special guests as well! A new video was posted on Instagram last night, in which you can see Simple Plan filming a couple of Warped Tour musicians/roadies (in particular Kenny Leath from Warped Roadies and model Robyn Barnsdale) rocking out to and singing the song “Boom” on camera in a truck.

Simple Plan at the Alternative Press Music Awards

The Alternative Press Music Awards took place last night, July 22nd, in Cleveland, Ohio and the most of the alternative scene was there: from New Found Glory to All Time Low. And of course, our boys from Simple Plan were there as well – attending the red carpet, being nominated for the Artist Philantrophic award and also perfroming later that night.

And while unfortunately Simple Plan did not win the award (as it went to Taking Back Sunday), the guys enjoyed whole evening quite a lot. On the red carpet, the band members gave a lot of interviews (that are surely coming up in the next few days), took lots of photos and by the end of the night the guys were even one of the world-wide trending topics on Twitter! Check out the APMAS gallery album with the first photos that pop up online (more HQ ones will be coming soon!):

Later on during the evening, Simple Plan were introduced by Memphis May Fire as “[a band that] played a big role in keeping pop-punk alive”. On the APMAS stage, Simple Plan performed three songs in total: “I’d Do Anything”, “Boom” and also a cover version of MXPX’s “Responsibility” featuring Mike Herrera from MXPX. Check out the whole performance on the video below:

Videos and photos from new interviews

Simple Plan are slowly getting back into the spotlight and that also means a lot more media coverage. For example, Chuck and David recently gave an interview for FUSE TV, in which the guys talked about their return to Warped Tour, reaction of other bands to them on tour and also about the new album. According to David, the guys still do not know the exact release date, however they are aiming for October.

Check out some of the pictures of Chuck and David from this interview that took place in Holmdel, NJ:

Another interview the members of Simple Plan did was for Ottawa Bluesfest when they performed at this event last Saturday. Check out what Jeff and Chuck had to say in the following video:

VLOG: Back on tour

Simple Plan are back on tour and that fact on its own deserves to be celebrated with a new vlog. So Chuck and Sebastien decided to film one backstage on Warped Tour and posted it up today. Check out what they feel like after the first few shows in the newest vlog below:

Simple Plan kick off new tour cycle: at La Fete du Lac des Nations & Ottawa Bluesfest

That’s right! Simple Plan are back on the road and soon will get to see all of you everywhere in the world. But for the start of their new tour cycle, the band chose their home country, Canada, as the place for their first two performances.

Simple Plan started their tour at the La Fete du Lac des Nations festival in Sherbrooke, QC on Friday, July 17th and continued the next day with a show at Ottawa Bluesfest in Ottawa, ON. Both of the shows were a major success. In fact, as Jeff noted, it’s amazing that just 10 years ago the band played for only 70 people in Sherbrooke, and this time around they headlined the whole La Fete du Lac festival. In the gallery you can check out a couple of pictures of the guys in the backstage and soundcheck at these two events. According to our fan Jennifer, the boys even did an autograph session in Ottawa:

The most important thing about these concerts though for many fans, was the setlist. While we don’t have the actual order of the songs the band played, Jennifer at least sent me the list of all the songs that have been played:

Setlist for Ottawa Bluesfest – NOT IN ORDER

Shut Up
Jet Lag
Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
Jump
Welcome To My Life
You Suck At Love
Your Love Is A Lie
Boom
The Rest Of Us
Crazy
I’m Just A Kid
When I’m Gone
Astronaut
Loser of the Year
I’d Do Anything

Encore (IN ORDER):
Summer Paradise
Perfect

As you can see, for the first time ever, the band performed a regular – NOT acoustic version – of two of their newest songs – “The Rest Of Us” (which appeared on the bands latest release, their 2013 EP “Get Your Heart On – The Second Coming!”) and also “Boom” (which is to be featured on the band’s upcoming fifth album). Besides these new songs, Simple Plan also surprised with the addition of a regular live version of “Crazy” since that song has mostly been performed acoustically in the past. According to the attendees of La Fete du Lac, the band also mentioned that their new album should come out in October.

You can check out the performances of “The Rest Of Us” and “Boom” on the following videos from Ottawa Bluesfest:
