LISTEN: Simple Plan & State Champs: Where I Belong feat. We The Kings (+ lyrics)

At midnight all across the world, Simple Plan, State Champs and We The Kings released a collaborative song called ‘Where I Belong’. The sound of this new pop-punk track brings us vibes of Simple Plan more hard-hitting side – especially the one we can find on similar songs such as Opinion Overload. It was written as a collaborative project between Andrew Goldstein, Chuck Comeau, Pierre Bouvier, Derek DiScanio (State Champs) and Zachary Joseph.

As we’re mentioned previously, this is a collaborative song, and as such it features many interesting surprises. Obviously we can find all members of Simple Plan doind their usual jobs, but besides them, there’s some other additional musicians putting a little bit of their own talent to the song. The gang vocals for instance, beside Pierre, Seb and David also include Andrew Goldstein (singer, songwriter, producer – who also co-wrote the song), Chady Awad (Simple Plan’s photographer & videographer) and Zakk Cervini (producer and mixer of the song). Beside’s Pierre’s vocals, we can also clearly hear Derek DiScanio’s (State Champs’ lead singer) voice on half the track and Travis Clark (We The Kings’ lead singer) also lent his voice to the song. And finally, besides Chuck’s drum tracks, the song also features some additional drums by Ilan Rubin, the drummer for Nine Inch Nails and Angels & Airwaves.

Check out the song and its lyrics below and make sure to let us know in the comments what you think!

Simple Plan & State Champs – Where I Belong (feat. We The Kings)

I’m looking in the rearview mirror
Everything looks the same
There’s nothing but broken streetlights
And I’m just trying to escape
I’m waiting on a distant feeling
I’m waiting for things to chance
It’s getting hard to ride on empty
But maybe I’m not so far away
‘Cause it feels like home

I found a reason
And suddenly I’m not so alone
I’m finally breathing
Like I never could on my own
Start the countdown, let’s get it on
Scream our lungs out to our favorite song
‘Cause this is where I belong
(This is where I belong)

I can tell you just don’t get it
And that you’ll never understand
I’m sorry that I can’t be perfect
But I’m not changing who I am
Maybe there’s no destination
Maybe I’m gonna make mistakes
Let you in on one of my secrets
I’m still just as lost as yesterday
But it feels like home

I found a reason
And suddenly I’m not so alone
I’m finally breathing
Like I never could on my own
Start the countdown, let’s get it on
Scream our lungs out to our favorite song
‘Cause this is where I belong

Look past the warning signs
The same ones that told me
“Yeah, you can’t turn back and run
Play it safe before you come undone”

If you saw through my eyes
This view is worth it
Can’t believe me when I say
There’s no place in this world I’d rather be

I found a reason
And suddenly I’m not so alone
I’m finally breathing
Like I never could on my own
Start the countdown, let’s get it on
Scream our lungs out to our favorite song
‘Cause this is where I belong

I found a reason (I found a reason)
And suddenly I’m not so alone
I’m finally breathing (I’m finally breathing)
Like I never could on my own
Start the countdown, let’s get it on
Scream our lungs out to our favorite song (favorite song)
‘Cause this is where I belong
(‘Cause this is where I belong)
‘Cause this is where I belong

VIDEO: Simple Plan’s new sketch reveals new music to be released today at midnight!

Yesterday, Simple Plan teased their entire fandom by a print screen of a fan comment, predicting that the band would be releasing some new music ahead of their co-headlining tour with State Champs – that means this month. Of course, many fans have been cautious about Simple Plan’s “soon”, but believe it or not, things are actually happening TONIGHT!

In a brand new sketch video, released today on Simple Plan’s social media channels, Danny Vance, Simple Plan’s tour manager can be seen walking up to all members of the band, trying to convince them to help him announce something big. Eventually the band does so… but not entirely. The only information we know is that SOMETHING is being released tonight at midnight between Thursday, October 11th and Friday October 12th. As far as time zones goes, it is unknown, but we’re betting on EST.

Check out the video teaser for the announcement below:

“We’ve got something big happening tonight and we can’t wait for you to find out what it is! But I guess you’re gonna have to wait just a little longer… unless State Champs fills you in?? 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️🤣🤣🤣 #Soon #VerySoon”

UPDATE:

State Champs replied to Simple Plan’s suggestion with the following video – making We The Kings help with the announcement instead. Watch State Champ’s reply here.

Travis from We The Kings later on replied with his own video:

Simple Plan replaced The Offspring as headliners of Four Chords Music Festival & performed ‘Self Esteem’

On Sunday, October 6th, Simple Plan were scheduled to be a part of the Four Chords Music Festival, which was held in Pittsburgh, PA alongside acts such as The Offspring, Anberlin or Knuckle Puck. Unfortunately, due to illness, The Offspring had to pull out of performing on said festival and it was announced only a few hours before the start of the festival that Simple Plan would now be closing the festival as headliners.

Even with big shoes too fill and a big crowd to win over after such a disappointment, Simple Plan didn’t hesitate and took over the show in a big way. And to cheer the fans of The Offspring, who couldn’t unfortunately see their band live at this event that day, they decided to add their own rendition of The Offspring’s song ‘Self Esteem’ to their setlist. Watch Simple Plan perform this classic hit below:

Pierre on Simple Plan leaving their record label Atlantic Records: “The deal is done. We’re free agents now.”

In a brand new interview for Eyes Closed Blog (big thanks to Alberto for letting us know!), which was filmed at Slam Dunk Festival in the United Kingdom back in May, Pierre discussed a series of very interesting topics from his band’s obsession with escape rooms all the way to the Instagram rivalry between him and Chuck.

One of the most interesting parts came towards the end of the interview, where Pierre started discussing SP’s plans for their 6th album (which Pierre would like to see released this year) and later admitted that having released five albums under Atlantic Records, their original deal with this record label is now officially done and Simple Plan are now, for the first time in their career under no record label whatsoever.

Check out what exactly Pierre said below:

I wanna put [the new album] out this fall. Cause it’s pretty much written. We have to be in the studio, but we’re still planning on how. Cause we’re no longer on a major label. Our deal is done. Just fantastic. We’re now free agents. So we don’t know if we wanna self-produce, if we wanna sign with someone else, or if we wanna do something else, so those parts have not been figured out yet. And we don’t know if we wanna have one producer, or like multiple producers or if we’re gonna produce a few of them. So that part needs to be figured out but the songs are done, they’re ready, they’re great and so it’s very very close.”

– Pierre Bouvier –

As of right now, Simple Plan are also no longer listed amongst the artists represented by Atlantic Records on their website.

Besides talking about the band’s split from their label, Pierre also vaguely discussed two songs on the upcoming album, which could fall under the “experimental songs” category, yet he himself thinks they might just become fan-favorites due to their lyrics’ subject matter:

“We have a song coming up… two songs on the new record – that are gonna be different. I think the fans are gonna like them anyways cause the subject matter is very… sort of fits into what people expect of us. But they’re out there. It’s fun to do that… you have to do it. But also the new record, I think… has a lot of songs that the fans are gonna really like. It’s hard to predict, but it will be a fan-favorite, this record. “
