Jack Barakat: “Time Bomb is our honour to Simple Plan!”

It’s been just a couple of days since the first ever Czech show for All Time Low, who happen to have a lot in common with Simple Plan. First time they’ve met was at Bamboozle Roadshow, where they came up with the future collaboration of these two bands, which resulted in their lead singer, Alex Gaskarth, singing on Simple Plan’s song “Freaking Me Out” (on the Get Your Heart On! album) and the song Time Bomb (that was originally written by Pierre and Chuck for Simple Plan) – for the reason of “not sounding like a Simple Plan song” – offered to All Time Low, who took it, changed it here and there and released it on their album “Dirty Work”.

I asked Nixie from AllTimeLow.cz, who had the opportunity to interview All Time Low’s guitarist Jack Barakat before the Prague show, to ask about Time Bomb and their collaboration with Simple Plan, and here you can see the result (and also see it on the video at mark 2:50):

ATL.cz: We know you’re friends with Simple Plan and Time Bomb was originally their song. Did you change it a lot?

Jack: Yeah, we definitely changed it, just because we wanted to make it an All Time Low song. But it was kind of like an honor to the band that we grew up listening to and the fact that we kind of got to work with them was pretty awesome.

Simple Plan rocks the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival

For the second time in their career, Simple Plan appeared yesterday, on September 1st, at the Gatineau Hot Air Balloon Festival, that is accompanied every year with live concerts for the visitors. This year’s visitors had the chance to enjoy Simple Plan’s last show before their return to South America (in a month). The visitors’ reviews of the show were raving about SP’s performance, two of them even got a little kiss from David on stage and the band itself acknowledged that the show was really awesome and Chuck already “can’t wait for the next summer”.

You can already check out some of the first photos from the Gatineau festival in the gallery:

And just to close up this Gatineau-related post, below you can watch a short interview with Chuck that was recorded yesterday at the festival, and where Chuck says a little bit more about the band’s collaboration with the Canadian Space Agency:

Simple Plan sending their “Astronaut” to space!

In December 2012, Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield will be heading for a six-month stay at the International Space Station (ISS) and during the second half of this mission, he will become Canada’s first Commander of the ISS.

And to kill the time up there, Chris will be bringing lots of music and recording it there as well, as he is a very passionate musician himself. Recently, he has even made a deal with his fellow Canadians – Simple Plan – that he would play their very fitting single “Astronaut” while in space.

“Canadians have written some of my favourite music. I look forward to floating weightless by the Cupola window, up high across Canada, playing and singing songs from Lightfoot to Simple Plan…a wonderful way to stay close to home,” said Chris.

As a little pay back, three members of Simple Plan recorded a special message for Chris which also features a cut-out 2D version of him. Make sure to check it out below:

Everybody is a nerd – even Simple Plan

As a part of their cooperation with Wonka, Simple Plan have made a video, in which each of them tells the whole world why he too would fit into the category of people that everybody calls “nerds” nowadays. This video is a part of a campaign that the candy company Wonka (that also makes a candy titled “Nerds”) started to help fight bullying.

MTV Exit’s Simple Plan special to air in September

In May, right before the start of their Australian tour, Simple Plan stopped in Vietnam for a few days, to take part in a special free benefit concert in Hanoi to support the fight against human trafficking for the audience of more than 40 000 people.

After the concert, the band took a train to the north part of Vietnam, where they had a chance to engage with at-risk vulnerable populations from ethnic minority communities. Simple Plan met with two organizations: Sapa O’Chau and Pacific Links, who provided a valuable first hand education about the dangers of human trafficking in the region and the importance of education in the prevention of modern day slavery.

All that has been captured on camera and will be produced in a form of a documentary, by MTV Exit.

The documentary will be broadcast on September 1st (with reruns on September 2nd, 4th and 29th) and most probably will also be later available on MTV Exit’s VIMEO channel.
