New Chinese version of Jet Lag feat. Kelly Cha!

Ever since the beginning, Jet Lag has been considered to be a very universal song. At first it was written only for two language versions: English and French – but as it turns out, it may spread to even more versions than we thought was possible. Do you remember last August when Simple Plan were headed to China to play a few shows, yet the concerts had to be cancelled due to Pierre’s swollen vocal chords? That’s where the Simple Plan were scheduled to perform Jet Lag live with a local singer called Kelly Cha, who sings her part in Chinese – and even the official music video was supplemented by new takes including this female singer. So this suprising duet has been post-poned till Simple Plan come back to China again – which is in January, when we can expect Kelly Cha to appear on stage with Simple Plan, performing Jet Lag together.

Below you can finally check out the new version of Jet Lag – feat. Kelly Cha:

What are your thoughts on this version? Which of the three language versions is you favourite? Who would you reccomend Simple Plan to do a duet with in your country (and in your language)?

Trailer for the “Je Suis Fan” documentary about music fans

As you already know from the last post, on January 9th, the Canadian TV station RDI will be airing a documentary called “Je Suis Fan”, in which its director Yanie Dupont-Hébert explores the importance of the relationship between artists and their fans and how these relationships have evolved from the 50s till today. The documentary talks about the fans of Simple Plan, Roch Voisine and Paul Anka from all across the world and of all ages. Group PVP that produces this whole documentary has released the official trailer for it today and you can now check it out below:

Update:

Apparently, Simple Plan’s own Patrick Langlois, old friend, ex-videographer and web-admin, will also be featured in the Je Suis Fan documentary!

Exclusive new information about the upcoming documentary on Simple Plan fans!

You may remember one of the questions that I asked the guys during my interview with Simple Plan in Prague earlier this year, which dealt with the upcoming documentary about the Simple Plan fans, about which we first heard from some of the fans who have been recorded, and then this information has been confirmed by Chuck himself.

In my interview, Sebastien mentioned:

“It’s a nice documentary that an awesome team from Quebec is doing. I think it started off, because they wanted to do a little documentary on music and fans and then it became so much more than that because they started meeting some of our fans, they saw how special the fans were and how great of a relationship we have with them. So it’s just gonna be a beautiful peace on the band and the fans and how we all love each other.”

Chuck then added: “Yeah, it’s really about how the love of music can make people do extraordinary things like travel to go see bands, make friendships and there’s all kinds of stories that revolves around our fans and their lives. And how they’re all connected to Simple Plan and how loving the band got them to meet other friends, and got them even to jobs sometimes. It’s really interesting. It will be cool to see it all together. They filmed everything: they filmed from to the videoshoot of Can’t Keep My Hands Off You and Astronaut, they came to the Montreal secret show, they came to the Quebec outdoor show. they were in Japan with us…”

Both of them agreed the film might be around an hour and half long.

And even though the guys spilled so many beans about it to us back in September, the rest of the media and people, who knew about this project were under a strict contract, which forbade them to mention it anywhere. But due to the upcoming promotion, we can all now talk about it freely and here is the first exclusive info:

This documentary will be called “Je Suis Fan” (meaning “I am a fan”) and right now is in the final stages of production of the same team of people, who were behind the recording of Simple Plan’s performance with the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra – Groupe PVP. The direcor of the documentary is yet again miss Yanie Dupont-Hebert, who used to work for MusiquePlus, so she’s known the guys since the times of Reset. It is important to make it clear that Je Suis Fan is not just a film about the Simple Plan Fans, but generally about the fans of music: apart from the SP fans, the documentary also focuses on Roch Voisine or Paula Anka’s fans. A documentary that will be only about the fans of Simple Plan (meaning it will be an extended and more concrete version of Je Suis Fan) will be called “Simple Fans” and should be released (by the same team of producers) perhaps also sometimes in 2012.

Je Suis Fan will air for the first time on January 9th 2012 on RDI, and its full version will air during 2012 on ARTV and TFO. A press release with more information and pictures should be released soon.

One more Merry Christmas video: from Seb and Jeff

Sebastien and Jeff, both currently back home in Montreal, Canada, have recently went for a car drive through the city, which is apparently the new best spot to record videomessages. Even though Simple Plan promote “Don’t Drink And Drive”, seems like vlogging and driving is acceptable, so in this spirit the two guitarists taped a short special “Merry Christmas” video for their fans in Indonesia, where the guys are scheduled to play just in a couple of weeks.
