Simple Plan to start working on 6th record after March 2018

In a new interview for idobi radio that was filmed on the Warped Rewind At Sea cruise with Chuck and Sebastien, the two members of Simple Plan discussed various topics from attending this special pop-punk cruise, Warped Tour in general, their No Pads anniversary tour all the way to their upcoming album.

We’ve known for a while that the plans for next year are supposed to include a bit of touring and then making of a new record – however no specific time frames have been mentioned yet, since the dates for Australia and South American tour have not been officially announced. In this interview for idobi however, Chuck revealed for the first time that all the touring should be done by March 2018, after which Simple Plan should immediately go back to writing and hopefully soon finish their 6th studio album.

Check out Chuck’s direct quotes and also the whole interview on the video below:

“As soon as we’re done – I think we’re gonna wrap things up around March and at that moment we’re gonna start making a new record. And then we’re gonna get back to touring and do a regular Simple Plan tour.”

“We haven’t said it officially but there’s two places that are really important to us, that we haven’t been to with this anniversary tour, so South America – and Brazil in particular. So we need to go there, we’re working on that. And Australia. So these are the last two places we need to go to. And after that we’re gonna make a new record.”

Pierre covered ‘Basket Case’ by Green Day at 24h Tremblant

Two years after their first appearance at 24h Tremblant in Canada, Simple Plan revisited the Mont Tremblant mountain for another edition of this largest philantropic sporting event in North America yesterday. At 24h Tremblant, the participants take on three different sports challenges at the same time: ski, run and walk. The teams, made up of 6 to 12 members, register in one of the three sports and take part in a 24-hour relay. Participants raise funds with all proceeds going to three major children’s foundations – this year raising over 3 million dollars. And every year this event is accompanied by a number of concerts.

Just like last time, Simple Plan once again had to perform as a foursome – except this time without a different band member. You may recall that at the 2015 edition of 24h Tremblant, Pierre Bouvier had to excuse himself from performing, as he had suffered a vocal haemorrhage, so the band had to call up a few of their friends to help out with the vocal parts. The substituting singers then included Marie-Mai, Janick Thibault, Rémi Chassé, Bobby Bazini and Jonas. This year as promised, Pierre was all ready to finally perform at this event, so the only band member still missing was David.

Before heading to the stage to perform in front of thousands of people who gathered to enjoy this exclusive sporting event, the members of Simple Plan put on some winter jackets, hats and gloves and came to check out the event from the inside and even took part in some activities. Chuck for instance played ice-hockey with a group of children and all of the SP guys also took part in a snowball fight. Audrey captured this moment on the video below:

Later that evening it was finally time for Simple Plan to come up on stage and give it all they got at the last performance before the Christmas holidays. To make the night even more special, Pierre very unexpectedly performed a cover of Green Day’s song ‘Basket Case’. Once again captured by Audrey, check out the video of this moment below:

And finally, have a look at a couple of pictures taken of the guys during yesterday at 24h Tremblant:

Watch Patent Pending and Simple Plan race Mario karts

Simple Plan’s No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls tour with Patent Pending and Hit The Lights continues tonight in Nashville, TN – but before we get to tonight’s show, let’s talk about what SP were up to back in Austin.

A “rivarly” between SP and Patent Pending has (according to their own words on Instagram) developed over time on tour and has now moved to a parking lot in Austin, where the final battle took place. And given how obsessed some of the band members are with video games, it was only fitting that they brought them to real life for this battle.

So place your bets and guess who won in this Mario karts race before watching the video below – was it Patent Pending… or Simple Plan?

Simple Plan help a couple get engaged on stage in Austin, TX

The second rescheduled Texas show took place on Thursday night in Austin, TX, where 1700 fans turned up at the sold-out Emo’s venue to witness the last November No Pads show of the Simple Plan tour.

At it turned out to be quite a special night for one cute couple – especially for the girl, as her boyfriend surprised her with an on-stage proposal right in the middle of the Simple Plan set. Check out a short video of this cool moment captured on one of SP’s Insta Stories:

Another good news from the Austin show came later when Simple Plan announced that they managed to sell out all of the special limited edition t-shirts, who’s all proceeds will help out two chosen charitable organizations in Texas.

And as always, the first photos from the night in Austin can be found in the gallery:
