Watch Simple Plan’s ‘Shut Up’ in 2006 Coca-Cola ad

Back in 2005, The Coca-Cola Company started a new ad campaign called ‘Make It Real’, which replaced the original ‘Real’ campaign for Coca-Cola from the brand’s previous years. ‘Make It Real’ targeted younger audience: teenagers and young adults by showing clips that resonated with them on a more deeper level: by making the brand more integral to the young person’s life and more relatable.

In this campaign, which was created by the NY based Berlin Cameron advertising agency, among many other spots, one in particular stands out for the Simple Plan fans. The clip depicts through a very real-life-looking footage a story of a group of young people who head out on the road to have an adventure, record music, film themselves and just have fun. And while all the activities in the clip certainly helped in targeting the right audience, the addition of Simple Plan’s song ‘Shut Up’, very popular in those years, as the SNGA album was released just a year prior to that, made the clip even more relatable.

5SOS members and more spotted at Simple Plan show in LA

After Anaheim, Simple Plan headed to Los Angeles for another show of their current No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour, which, just like the previous one was completely sold-out.

As this was an LA show, there is no surprise that quite the number of familiar faces could have been spotted in the crowd, such as Frank Borin (SP’s long-time friend and music video director) or three members of the band 5 Seconds Of Summer (Luke Hemmings, Ashton Irwin and Calum Hood) – all enjoying their friends’ show at The Wiltern.

Another person who was at the show was Fil Thorpe-Evans, the bassist for Neck Deep, who even tweeted out about his love for Simple Plan after the show:

Simple Plan performed their traditional 90-minutes-long set, which consisted of all of the songs from their 1st record and a mix of the best of’s from the other albums in the 7-songs-long encore.

Simple Plan honored Blink 182 with an ‘All The Small Things’ cover at Lawrence soundcheck

To celebrate Pierre’s newly reached 182 000 followers on his Instagram, he and his band decided to pay respect to this very important pop-punk number – 182 – by performing a cover of one of their most influential bands of their early beginnings: Blink 182.

Simple Plan performed the cover of Blink 182’s hit ‘All The Small Things’ at the soundcheck in Lawrence, KS yesterday and captured it on a video that was featured on Pierre’s Instagram Stories (thx SPB for putting it up). Check it out below:

‘Saturday’ by Simple Plan on CBS Entertainment promo

For a while now, Simple Plan’s song ‘Saturday’, has been used on CBS Entertaiment promo for their Saturday night program schedule (big thanks to Tum for letting us know).

You may recall that ‘Saturday’ was released in the summer of 2015 as the first teaser track from Simple Plan’s fifth album Taking One For The Team, but since the overall reaction wasn’t very favorable and the song didn’t eventually fit with the remaining songs on the record, the band decided not to include it on the final version of the TOFTT album. Remind yourselves of the full song here and below you can check out the promo that aired on CBS Entertainment yesterday:
