World premiere of the official video for “Opinion Overload”

It’s here! “Opinion Overload”, a pop-punk throwback that kicks off the new album “Taking One For The Team”, has just been released as a music video and is also available on iTunes everywhere. Below, you can read a little message from the band:

We are so excited to share with all of you the video for “Opinion Overload”, the opening song of our new album “Taking One For The Team”.

“Opinion Overload” is a song about following your heart and not letting anyone tell you that you can’t. For us, writing it was about getting back to our roots and reminding ourselves and everyone else what this band is all about. We wanted to make a video that strips everything bare and lays it all on the table; go back to the basics and focus on what we love the most: playing shows for you.

The video is a walk down memory lane for the five of us, right back to when we started this band and played small, sweaty clubs every night.

Of course, a lot has changed since those days, but in some crazy way, it’s almost as if nothing’s changed at all. It’s still about the power of a song, the magic of stepping on stage and playing your heart out for anyone that cares to listen.

This video is our thank you to everyone who ever supported our band – you’re the reason we’re still here doing this. Enjoy the music and we’ll see you at the shows!

Pierre, Chuck, Sebastien, Jeff and David.

Check out the video and make sure to leave a comment below with your OPINION (see what I did there?)!

And of course, here’s already the lyrics for your singing pleasure:

Opinion Overload

So you think you got me figured out
Won’t you go ahead and tell me what I’m all about
You know I’m dying to hear it
I’m getting sick of all the sticks and stones you throw
Now it feels like it’s opinion overload
I can take it but I’d rather leave it

Get out of my face
Quit bringing me down
I don’t care what you say

So what part of that don’t you understand?

Hey!

I’m doing things exactly like I want to
What part of that don’t understand?

Hey!

And I don’t give a damn if you don’t approve
What part of that don’t you understand?

Hey!

You’re so tough, throwing punches with your words
You think you’re clever
Let me tell you you’re not the first
Say something I haven’t heard yet

You’re disrespectful
Always quick to judge
I kinda wonder if you’re doing it just because
It must be nice being perfect

Get out of my face
Quit bringing me down
I don’t care what you say

So what part of that don’t you understand?

Hey!

I’m doing things exactly like I want to
What part of that don’t understand?

Hey!

And I don’t give a damn if you don’t approve
What part of that don’t you understand?

Hey!

I won’t apologize
For what I feel inside
I won’t be pushed around
I won’t be backing down
Not doing what you say
I’ll never change my ways
Get out of my face

Hey!
I’m doing things exactly like I want to
What part of that don’t you understand?

Hey!

And I don’t give a damn if you don’t approve

What part of that don’t you understand?
Hey!

(I won’t apologize for what I feel inside)

What part of that don’t you understand?
Hey!

(Not doing what you say, I’ll never change my ways)

What part of that don’t you understand?

Track By Track video: Opinion Overload

With just about 12 hours left till the release of Simple Plan’s new single “Opinion Overload” (tonight at midnight EST) the band just released a promised “Track By Track” video, in which the band members talk about how the song came along. Check it out below:

Simple Plan to release ANOTHER video in the next few weeks

While either this or next week we should finally get a look at the new music video for “Opinion Overload”, which is Simple Plan’s second single, according to a new interview with Jeff, that might not be all that the boys have for us video-wise!

In an interview for the Spanish server Histéricas Garbaciones, Jeff was asked about their upcoming important events and besides the European tour, Jeff also said:

“We are releasing two new videos in the next few weeks: one is a “nostalgia/throwback” video with a super energetic live performance. The other video, will be quite a surprise for our fans! ” – Jeff Stinco

As you can guess, it is certain that in the first part of the quote, Jeff talks about the music video for “Opinion Overload”, which is known to feature a live performance of the band along with a sneak peek at various memorabilia. But in the second part, he mentions that there is another video we can look forward to. Is it a music video? Is it something else? We’re gonna have to wait and see what the next few weeks are going to bring. But as Jeff said, it will definitely be a big surprise.

Simple Plan referenced in a parody pop-punk medley “All The Old Things”

The fictitious YouTube band “Sunrise Skater Kids” created by YouTube comedian Jarrod Alonge, who you may remember from the popular “Every Pop Punk Vocalist” video recently posted a brand new song, which serves as a parody on all old pop-punk bands by using a tiny bit tweaked lyrics and music of popular old-school pop-punk acts such as blink-182, The All-American Rejects, Sum 41, Paramore and of course Simple Plan.

The Simple Plan spoof starts at mark 0:39 with the lyrics “I’m getting old and life is a nightmare, I’m getting old, I just found my first gray hair. Nobody cares cause all the kids in today’s pop(-punk scene were born after 19…19…1999)”, which is a funny and clever reference to “I’m Just a Kid” and Bowling For Soup’s “1985”.
