Jen from the Simple Plan Space magazine recently had the opportunity to interview Chris Burney, the guitarist for Bowling For Soup, and ask him a couple of questions about touring with Simple Plan back in 2005/2006.
Below you can read an excerpt from this interview that is currently featured in the May issue of Simple Plan Space (you can read the full interview here):
[…] A few Simple Plan questions, you are good friends with them?
Chris: Ah yeah it’s been a while since we have seen or heard from any of those guys, so yeah, its been quite a while, it would be nice to do a show or two with them.
Can you tell me any funny stories from the 2005/6 Star Jam tour with them?
Chris: There was an incident when a dressing room got pretty trashed, we broke a couple of tables and threw a refrigerator of the balcony.
Can I know who actually did that? Was it Pierre?
Chris: Well it was a combination of a few of us, it was a really fun time.
I have seen the song that they sang for you on youtube, I think it was at a soundcheck did you fo drinking with them that night?
Chris: Yes! I think we did every night.
I have to ask the mention of Simple Plan in ‘From The Rooftops’ – was that just a shout out to friends?
Chris: Yeah, pretty much.
That was great, all the SP fans were happy about that!
Chris: Nice!
This is more of a Jaret question – he was involved in Man Of The Hour, do you know anything about that?
Chris: I think it was just one of those things that happened, it was kind of a running joke, I don’t think that Man Of The Hour actually did anything musically. I mean I don’t really know to be honest with you, it was kind of a running joke.
Fav SP album?
Chris: I am not really sure, I don’t know their names, but have them on my iPod.
How about your favorite song?
Chris: I don’t know really. I have them all on my iPod and I just play them. I don’t look at CDs, I just play music digitally. I don’t know if that makes me look really bad to be honest, I just listen to a lot of bands like Maiden and stuff, but I can’t tell you the names of their songs.
So I was then going to ask what Simple Plan song you would like to cover but you probably don’t know the name of it! Is there anything else that you can tell me about the relationship between BFS and SP?
Chris: It has been too long since we have seen them, it is has been quite a few years so yeah.
