During the last couple of months, after touring with a fellow Canadian band Marianas Trench twice (across the USA and Canada), SP and MT have become pretty good friends. Actually that good that they can now afford to prank each other without making the other one mad. In an interview for MuchMusic after their arrival to the Juno Awards’ red carpet last week, the guys from Simple Plan spoke about how during one of the last concerts on their Canadian tour, Marianas Trench pranked them by turning the confetti canons to the band while they were playing the last song of their set (Perfect), which of course resulted in Simple Plan finishing their show basically dressed in confetti.
Of course SP wanted to get their payback after that and wanted to prank Marianas Trench as well by sealing their lead singer Josh Ramsey shut in the jack-in-the-box from which he always comes out at the beginning of their performance. But since the SP guys realized they where “too nice… too Canadian”, this plan has been dropped.
Check out the video from the MuchMusic interview and Simple Plan’s arrival to the Juno Awards below:
And if you want to see Josh Ramsey’s (Marianas Trench) version of the story – about how MT pranked SP and how SP wanted their payback, you can check out an interview from MuchMusic with Josh and Mike from Marianas Trench (approximately at mark 1:59) which also includes a photo of SP covered up in confetti:
