Official statement of the Prague City Festival promoters about the “refunds”

Were you looking forward to seeing Simple Plan in Prague at the end of June – even planning on travelling from foreign countries just to see them and the rest of the fantastic line-up play in the heart of Europe, but then after it being canceled you were at least looking forward to getting your money back? Well, don’t count on it… cause in fact you may never see the money again.

The following statement has been written only in Czech, regarding the Czech ticket provider Ticketportal, so it only concerns those ticket holders, who purchased their tickets via this distributor. After more than a week of total silence the promoters of the festival posted this on their official Facebook page, in order to inform their customers about the situation with the refunds.

Here is the English translation of the promoters’ statement:

Due to the termination of the Prague City Festival, that we were forced to cancel because of the unexpected drop of funds, we are bringing you the information about the refunding of the tickets purchased via Ticketportal.

The distributor (Ticketportal), adverting to the “contract of the arrangement of ticket sales“, has notified us that they will not be refunding the tickets.

In such case, the obligation of refunding the tickets is transfered to the organizers – “Punx Not Dead” – (also with the fact that the agency will not be getting back any of the deposits for the artists’ royalties) meaning that the agency will most definitely be entered into an insolvent liquidation. Punx Not Dead has no other choice but to file bankruptcy. The owners of the purchased tickets for the Prague City Festival will be informed about how to sing up for the insolvency and request a refund.

At the same time, we would like to state that we have appealed to Ticketportal to provide us with all the neccessary information that is needed to identify the sold tickets and how to verify their authenticity.

Regarding the planned concerts, also organised by Punx Not Dead, if Ticketportal (in compliance with the forementioned contract) releases the deposits from the sold tickets to Punx Not Dead, these concerts will be realized (despite the insolvency procedure). This is regarding the performances of G3 on July 31st at the Tipsport Arena and of All Time Low on August 31st at Palace Akropolis.

It is fair to add that the ticket distributors only serve as a medium between the promoters and the customers, and according to Ticketportal, they have already transfered all the money to Punx Not Dead, which is the reason why they are not refunding the tickets.

Despite there not being any official words on the refunds of the tickets purchased via other distributors – such as Eventim – according to one of SP.cz readers, Sari, Eventim is deifnitely refunding the tickets purchased on their website.
