Simple Plan spent the whole January 1st at the Winter Classic 2016 game, where they firstly performed the Canadian national anthem [video] and then later on played their own short set.
Unfortunately, their set took place in the intermission between the 2nd and 3rd period, which meant many channels went to commercial breaks and therefore didn’t air much of Simple Plan’s performance. From what I’ve gathered, the band played at least three songs – Boom, Welcome To My Life and Shut Up.
Simple Plan cheering on the Montreal Canadiens team apparently helped, because their match against the Boston Bruins eventually resulted in the Habs’ victory – with the final score of 5:1.
