European festival interviews with Simple Plan

When on tour in Europe in the past few weeks, the members of Simple Plan gave a number of interviews to local media channels. Now, you’ve already seen the SimplePlan.cz interview, but let’s have a look at some of the other interviews that have already been released on YouTube and which you may have missed.

On Saturday, June 10th, Simple Plan attended the Download festival in the UK, where The Pit got ahold of Chuck and Seb for a short interview, in which the two members of the band discussed why their band has a way to connect with a crowd even at heavier festivals like Download and how the pop-punk genre can still be relevant today:

As you can guess from the setting of it, the second interview comes from Prague – from the Aerodrome Festival – where Jeff Stinco got interviewed by the Evropa 2 radio station. Check it out below:

EXCLUSIVE: New SimplePlan.cz interview with Chuck and Seb from Aerodrome Festival

This past Sunday, June 11th, when Simple Plan returned to the Czech Republic – for the Aerodrome Festival, I got to sit down with Chuck Comeau and Seb Lefebvre from Simple Plan (a.k.a. our already established interview duo) backstage and talk to them about a number of interesting topics.

We discussed some questions regarding the current No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls 15th anniversary tour and while talking about the first record, we also delved into the subject of the recording process of this album, which is when the boys revealed some more interesting tidbits from their work with Arnold Lanni. The topic of the future of Simple Plan was also on the table – whether it was regarding the upcoming 6th SP album and how long the process of making it may last, regarding the next live DVD or Chuck’s “pop-punkumentary” Resurgence.

I’d like to take this time to thank Simple Plan for taking the time to answer all my questions again, especially Chuck for helping to arrange the interview. Big thank you also goes to Coalition Music management and the Aerodrome Festival promoters for making this interview happen.

Please forgive the slightly disturbing background noise, which was caused by the on-going festival (and Machine Gun Kelly starting his set right in the middle of our interview). I will be adding both Czech and English subtitles to the interview very soon.

So finally, here’s the sixth SimplePlan.cz interview with the members of Simple Plan. Enjoy:

Back in Prague: Simple Plan rock at Aerodrome Festival

Simple Plan kept their promise and only a year since their last show in Prague, they returned to the Czech Republic yesterday. This time around, however, it was a return to a completely different experience – a festival for 25 000 people.

Earlier this year it was announced that Simple Plan would be joining Linkin Park for this year’s edition of the Aerodrome Festival. Besides these two major acts, other bands such as Enter Shikari, Machine Gun Kelly, Royal Republic, Counterfeit and Mallory Knox were set to perform at this event as well. Unfortunately just a few minutes after the gates to the festival opened up for all the fans, it was announced that Mallory Knox would not be performing due to a car accident in Germany (fortunately the band is ok).

Simple Plan arrived on the festival grounds in the early afternoon as this was their only stop on this European tour, where they had to take a plane from their previous location (Download festival in United Kingdom the night before, so taking the tourbus was not an option). After their arrival, it was time for them to do a meet&greet with a number of lucky contest winners and then also do a couple of interviews. SimplePlan.cz was there, of course, so you can already start looking forward to another interview with our already established interview duo – Seb and Chuck. Besides the interview, I also helped Pierre learned a couple of Czech phrases that he very accurately used throughout the whole show to loud cheers from the audience. Click on the picture on the right to check out Pierre’s own spelling of these phrases.

Simple Plan kicked off their 1-hour set at 7:30pm. All four band members (and Chady stepping in for David) jumped on stage and started their fourth show in Prague with their festival setlist of this tour. Check out all the songs Simple Plan played at Aerodrome below:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. Jet Lag
3. Jump
4. Your Love Is A Lie
5. Welcome To My Life
6. Boom
7. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
8. Summer Paradise
9. Addicted
10. Grow Up
11. I’m Just A Kid
12. Crazy
13. Shut Up
14. Perfect

Simple Plan’s classic audience-engaging performance that featured lots of arm-waving, singing and jumping (sometimes by a band member right into the crowd) managed to break even some of the most hardcore Linkin Park fans and many were singing along to the popular tunes that this setlist was filled with. It was just a shame their set didn’t start a little bit later in the evening, when dark would start setting in, as the show’s atmosphere could have been even greater if the light show was a bit more visible.

Big thanks goes to the promoters of the festival for making it happen, to the band’s crew for all their work, all the fans for coming even though this wasn’t a headlining show and last but not least Simple Plan, of course, for coming back and possibly turning some more people into Simple Plan fans.

Speaking of fans – huge shout-out to those of you who came up to me to ask for their own SimplePlan.cz pin! You guys are the best – thank you so much for all your support! I posted most of your pictures with your new pins on the SimplePlan.cz Instagram (and they’ll be featured on Facebook soon too), so check them out!

And finally – besides the interview, SimplePlan.cz also had access to the photo pit, where I had the opportunity to take some pictures of Simple Plan during their set. Check them out in the gallery:

Aerodrome Festival tightens security even more

Despite the fact that the promoters of the Aerodrome Festival (Prague, Czech Republic, June 11th) have already released some rather strict information regarding what one may not bring to the festival grounds, recent events in the United Kingdom and scares from the evacuation of Rock Am Ring last week, have made then tighten the security measures even more.

Attendees of this festival, which will feature performances of Simple Plan, Linkin Park and other artists, are now not allowed to bring in any sort of cameras (even compact cameras – although cell phones are allowed), tablets or flags.

Read the whole list of forbidden items below:

– guns and anything that could be used as a weapon (e.g. chains)
– sharp objects
– umbrellas
– selfie sticks or any other sticks
– cameras (all cameras, including compact cameras)
– drones
– lasers
– flags or banners larger than 22 x 25 cm
– backpacks (only smaller bag of size up to 30 x 40 cm will be allowed on the festival grounds – larger items must be stored in the luggage storage on site)
– chairs
– sprays
– tablets or iPads
– drugs
– food
– drinks

Pierre exclusively for SimplePlan.cz: invitation to the Aerodrome Festival!

Check out below the special video invitation for the upcoming Aerodrome Festival in Prague that I filmed with Pierre after the show in Berlin, Germany on Sunday! Big thanks to Pierre for taking the time.

There is still a limited amount of tickets left for this festival, which will take place on June 11th and where Simple Plan will perform alongside Linkin Park, Mallory Knox, Machine Gun Kelly, Enter Shikari, Royal Republic and Counterfeit – you can find them here.
