Pierre and Chuck are still very busy at their California homes, working tirelessly on new songs for the next Simple Plan album – and they continued working on them this week with a new addition to their already pretty interesting list of collaborators. After first-time co-writers Travis Clark from We The Kings and the ex-member of Neck Deep Fil Thorpe-Evans, Simple Plan’s main songwriting duo now reached out to someone they already had the chance to work with before: Ryan Stewart.
“Had a blast writing and demoing some new tunes with Simple Plan’s Pierre Bouvier & Chuck Comeau this week. These guys are sooooo good, they always up my game.”
– Ryan Stewart –
You may recall Ryan Stewart’s work with Chuck and Pierre on two songs from their last album Taking One For The Team: the fans’ favorites: ‘Perfectly Perfect’ and ‘P.S. I Hate You’. Besides his songwriting with Simple Plan back in 2015, Ryan Stewart can pride himself on his other previous credits that include songs for artists such as Hedley, Carly Rae Jepsen or Bif Naked.

At last night’s Simple Plan show on Warped Tour in Atlanta, GA, Simple Plan once again surprised the local crowd with a new special guest, who joined them on stage during ‘I’m Just A Kid’, which was the former Hey Monday singer and winner of The Voice, Cassadee Pope.
Since Cassadee is a self-proclaimed Simple Plan fan since her childhood, this was a very special moment also for her. On her own Instagram, Cassadee later shared a video of her performance with SP, thanking the band for having her on stage in Atlanta:
‘Can definitely cross “singing with Simple Plan” off my bucket list. “I’m Just A Kid” is my JAM. What an awesome group of dudes. Thanks for bringing me up, guys!!’
Over the past week, Simple Plan have been taking Australia by storm, playing six shows in five cities: Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney. Melbourne was the only city that got to experience Simple Plan twice during this tour as due to enormous demand, the fans managed to immediately sell out the first announced show, making Simple Plan to add a second show, which got sold out soon after. Another sold out show of this tour was Sydney.
Many fans gathered to witness this special once-in-a-lifetime 15th anniversary No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour and they were in for some great shows. For this tour, after Real Friends had to cancel their appearance on this tour, Simple Plan chose the Australian bands Eat Your Heart Out and Stateside as supporting acts.
Simple Plan’s setlist was very reliable as every night the band decided not to change any of their songs and delivered this classic version of their No Pads setlist:
1. I’d Do Anything
2. The Worst Day Ever
3. You Don’t Mean Anything
4. I’m Just A Kid
5. When I’m With You
6. Meet You There
7. Addicted
8. My Alien
9. God Must Hate Me
10. I Won’t Be There
11. One Day
12. Grow Up
13. Perfect
Encore:
14. Shut Up!
15. Jump
16. Boom
17. Jet Lag
18. Summer Paradise
19. Crazy
20. Welcome To My Life
There was one surprise, however, when on a couple of dates on this tour, Simple Plan invited Erin Reus, the lead singer of Stateside to join them as the female vocals in Jet Lag. This way, Erin has become another woman on the list of singers, who have over the years collaborated on this song. You can check out her appearance on stage in Melbourne below:
The guys had an amazing time in Australia and expressed many times over the past few days that they’ve had some of their favorite shows there. After the final show in Sydney, Simple Plan of course didn’t forget to take the final farewell group picture of themselves with the opening bands and the crew. Check it out below:
And finally, make sure to head over to our gallery now to check out all the albums of all the past Australian shows, which have now been updated with some new shots:
After the departure of Matt McCormack, the Canadian band Amasic, has decided to start anew – with new band members and also a new name – Story Untold. If you’ve been following Simple Plan for a while now, you have heard about Amasic many times in the past, as the band’s lead singer Janick Thibault had previously covered a number of Simple Plan songs, became friends with the band, opening for them on a number of occasions, which Janick followed up with song-writing with Pierre and Chuck and even replacing Pierre at the recent show in Canada, which Pierre was not able to attend, due to a health issue.
As SimplePlan.cz has discussed with Janick in our 2014 interview with the lead singer, Janick co-wrote two songs with Pierre and Chuck from Simple Plan – ‘If I Had One Dollar’ and also the song ‘History’, which has never been released before, during the Amasic era. Story Untold, who just announced singing with Hopless Records, have recently released a self-titled EP, which features both of the songs co-written by the members of Simple Plan. ‘History’ even became the band’s first single and an accompanying music video has already been released.
Check out ‘History’, which Chuck and Pierre helped to write, below:
Even though the band has not officially confirmed it yet, besides Nelly, Jordan Pundik and Juliet Simms, there should be another collaboration featured on Simple Plan’s new album “Taking One For The Team”! And how do we know that? iTunes!
According to the iTunes page dedicated to “Taking One For The Team”, track #5 on the record titled “Singing In The Rain” will be featuring the rap duo R. City (big thanks to Alex and Luigi for noticing)!
R. City, also known as Rock City is an American rap/hip-hop duo consisting of brothers Theron and Timothy Thomas. Besides producing their own songs, the twosome is also known for song-writing and producing for many well-known artists including Miley Cyrus (R. City wrote her hit song “We Can’t Stop”, which was originally written for Rihanna), Flo Rida, Fergie, Janet Jackson etc. However you will probably mostly remember R. City from their song “Locked Away” feat. Adam Levine from this past summer.
Are you excited what R. City’s collaboration on the song may be like?
