PHOTOS: Simple Plan start shooting new music video

All the members of Simple Plan got back to Canada on Friday to get ready to film a brand new music video in Toronto on the weekend. The first three pictures the guys posted from the set of the music video gave us a few more information on this shoot. Firstly, the band is filming on the beach and secondly, they decided to use the experience of their old friend Mark Staubach as a director again – you may recall him directing a few of Simple Plan’s music videos on GYHO (e.g. Astronaut, Summer Paradise or Can’t Keep My Hands Off You).

Mark Staubach and Randall “RT” Thorne directing Summer Paradise together

In the last couple of days, there was a huge confussion about who exactly is the director of the music video for Summer Paradise, that the guys recently recorded in Barbados. First, we had some news indirectly from David, saying the director is Mark Staubach (who previously worked with Simple Plan on Astronaut, Can’t Keep My Hands Off You and also the first version of Summer Paradise).

However, just a little after that, it was announced on Randall “RT” Thorne‘s (the former director of Save You) Twitter page that he is in fact the director of Summer Paradise. So naturally we took the first news about Staubach as a mistake and started praising Thorne as the only director.

But to make things a little bit more complicated, but probably also a bit more clear, yesterday Thorne tweeted a message from which it’s now certain that Mark Staubach and Randall “RT” Thorne are indeed working on Summer Paradise together! Now let’s just hope the line-up of the directors won’t change much again. :)

Just a few days ago, one of SimplePlan.cz’s most loyal visitors – Janie – talked to David, who spilled the beans about the new music video for Summer Paradise – apparently the music video that the guys are currently shooting in Barbados will be directed by none other than Mark Staubach.

So far, Mark has directed all the music videos from Get Your Heart On! (except for Jet Lag, which was directed by Frank Borin) – including the first version of Summer Paradise that he recorded during Simple Plan’s Australian tour.

Before Astronaut, Can’t Keep My Hands Off You and Summer Paradise, Mark Staubach was for example the one behind the music videos for Billionaire by Travie MyCoy and Bruno Mars.

Even this next update will be related to Mark Staubach’s work. Below you can check out (thanks SPB.com) a just released picture of a sketch of the astronaut’s station from the storyboard for the Astronaut music video, that Mark Staubach did with Simple Plan earlier this year. The sketch is a work of the artistic director Tyler Jensen:

New version of the Can’t Keep My Hands Off You music video

Thank to SPB.com for finding Mark Staubach‘s (the director of CKMHOY, Astronaut and Summer Paradise) VIMEO account, here is his slightly different version of the Can’t Keep My Hands Off You music video, than the one that has been distributed to media. If you compare both versions, you’ll see this one includes little more shots of the prom attendants – particularly a bit more of them making out than the first one.
