Simple Plan at Good Things Festival: live collabs and ‘Wonderwall’ cover

The main reason for Simple Plan to travel all the way to Australia this December was their invitation to the Good Things Festival, where they band performed for the very first time alongside acts such as Simple Creatures, Bad Religion, The Veronicas, A Day To Remember or Parkway Drive.

This three-day festival brought all the bands to three of some of the biggest cities in Australia: Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane over the course of this past Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Fans from all over Australia and further have gathered to witness their favorite bands to play at one festival and they were in for quite a treat.

Now, let’s have a look at what Simple Plan’s set looked like, shall we? The boys decided to keep it simple and given the fact that they only had an hour, decided to play 14 of their songs with an additional cover of Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’, which was added as an extra song before the final song on the last two days of the festival (Sydney and Brisbane). Besides this surprising addition to the setlist, the boys also had one more treat up their sleeve: a special live collaboration on Jet Lag with Erin Reus from the Australian band Stateside.

Check out the full setlist below:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. Jump
3. Welcome To My Life
4. Jet Lag (feat. Erin Reus)
5. Addicted
6. Boom!
7. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
8. Summer Paradise
9. Thank You
10. Where I Belong
11. Shut Up!

14. Wonderwall (Oasis cover)

VIDEO: Pierre joined Alex Gaskarth and Mark Hoppus for ‘I’d Do Anything’ during Simple Creatures DJ set in Australia

On the night before his first show back in Australia today at Good Things Festival, Pierre Bouvier headed out to the Stay Gold club yesterday, December 5th, where Simple Creatures (a musical duo featuring Alex Gaskarth from All Time Low and Mark Hoppus from blink-182) performed a special DJ set.

The guys then invited their old pal to join them during the set to sing his own band’s song – Simple Plan’s ‘I’d Do Anything’, accompanied by Alex and also Mark Hoppus, hence this becoming the first ever live featuring of Mark Hoppus on this song, which he had lent his vocals to back on Simple Plan’s debut album in 2002.

Check out the images from this special appearance of Pierre in our gallery and below you can watch the entire performance from many angles thanks to the Instagram Stories by Peter John, Pierre, Simple Plan and also thanks to a video sent to us by Leeann – thank you! Enjoy:

New photos of Chuck and Jeff’s DJ session in Melbourne

As we reported a couple weeks ago, while on their tour in Australia, Chuck and Jeff spent the evening after one of their Melbourne shows at the local club called PLASTIC, which invited them to do their own guest DJ session.

The evening was a big success with perhaps hundreds of people rocking out to some classic 90s and 00s alternative and emo songs, much like the “Emo nights” concept in the U.S.

The SimplePlan.cz gallery has now been updated with tons of new pictures from that night, where you can see Jeff and Chuck enjoying their guest DJ jobs for one night only. Have a look at them all by clicking on the thumbnails below:

Big recap of Simple Plan’s Australian tour

Over the past week, Simple Plan have been taking Australia by storm, playing six shows in five cities: Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney. Melbourne was the only city that got to experience Simple Plan twice during this tour as due to enormous demand, the fans managed to immediately sell out the first announced show, making Simple Plan to add a second show, which got sold out soon after. Another sold out show of this tour was Sydney.

Many fans gathered to witness this special once-in-a-lifetime 15th anniversary No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour and they were in for some great shows. For this tour, after Real Friends had to cancel their appearance on this tour, Simple Plan chose the Australian bands Eat Your Heart Out and Stateside as supporting acts.

Simple Plan’s setlist was very reliable as every night the band decided not to change any of their songs and delivered this classic version of their No Pads setlist:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. The Worst Day Ever
3. You Don’t Mean Anything
4. I’m Just A Kid
5. When I’m With You
6. Meet You There
7. Addicted
8. My Alien
9. God Must Hate Me
10. I Won’t Be There
11. One Day
12. Grow Up
13. Perfect

Encore:
14. Shut Up!
15. Jump
16. Boom
17. Jet Lag
18. Summer Paradise
19. Crazy
20. Welcome To My Life

There was one surprise, however, when on a couple of dates on this tour, Simple Plan invited Erin Reus, the lead singer of Stateside to join them as the female vocals in Jet Lag. This way, Erin has become another woman on the list of singers, who have over the years collaborated on this song. You can check out her appearance on stage in Melbourne below:

The guys had an amazing time in Australia and expressed many times over the past few days that they’ve had some of their favorite shows there. After the final show in Sydney, Simple Plan of course didn’t forget to take the final farewell group picture of themselves with the opening bands and the crew. Check it out below:
