Still Not Getting Any 20th anniversary: new edition release, gold & platinum certifications and music videos in HD!

On October 26th, Simple Plan’s second album ‘Still Not Getting Any’ celebrated 20 years since its release back in 2004. To commemorate this very special anniversary, the band decided to release a special “20th Anniversary Edition” of this album on Spotify which includes the b-side track ‘Crash And Burn’ (which is officially available for streaming for the very first time!) as well as an acoustic edition of ‘Welcome To My Life’.

Check out below what Simple Plan had to say about one of their most popular albums turning 20 years old:

Making this record was one of the best experiences we’ve had as a band. We knew exactly what we wanted to create and felt so confident and excited about the songs we were writing. We spent a magical summer in our hometown of Montreal recording them and crafting the album we had always dreamed of making. Back in 2004, people from all over the world heard these songs and they became the soundtrack to many of your lives. 20 years later, we’re so proud and grateful they seem to have stood the test of time and we look forward to playing them live for you for many years to come. We hope you enjoy listening to the album again and would like to thank everyone for the love and support you have shown SNGA for all these years!”

And we’re not just stopping there! Besides the rerelease of the album on Spotify, the band also decided to upgrade most of their old music videos, including the ones from Still Not Getting Any, and finally get them a proper high definition treatment! Check out how different Welcome To My Life now looks in HD on the video below:

And one more special news regarding the songs from Still Not Getting Any! One day before the big 20th anniversary, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) had awarded Simple Plan multiple new certifications for three of the album’s singles.

Welcome To My Life received a 2x Platinum status with 2 million units.

Untitled received a Gold status with 0,5 million units.

Shut Up received a Gold status with 0,5 million units.

(The current RIAA definition of a unit is either each permanent digital download or 150 on-demand audio or video streams.)

Simple Plan release new music video for Iconic feat. Jax (including a brand new verse)

On Friday, October 13th 2023, Simple Plan released a brand new music video for their new single ‘Iconic’ featuring a new collaboration with singer/songwriter Jax. The music video consists of clips from the band’s recent world tour and was filmed by Anna Lee, Skyler Barberio, Josh Kim and Braverijah Gregg.

The new version of ‘Iconic’ features a brand new verse by Jax, which includes a number of name drops including Britney Spears, Whitney Houston, Jeff Bezos and Warren Buffett. The verse goes as follows:

If I had a dime for every time
Someone in a suit said I should try
To look a little more like Britney
Sing a little more like Whitney
I’d be
Richer than Besos and Buffet combined
But I’d rather eat Cup O Noodles and cry
Speaking the words that are mine
‘Cause Whit is the shit And Brit is the shit
‘Cause they don’t give a shit about trying to fit

Recap of new SimplePlan.cz’s interview with SP: plans for 2024, band’s future as a four piece, secret featuring and more!

Last week, SimplePlan.cz caught up with Simple Plan before their performance at Rock For People in the Czech Republic and got to interview Chuck Comeau and Jeff Stinco, who gave us the most time out of any of the other media (for which we’re extremely grateful!).

In the interview, we decided to focus on some of the more important current topics and questions that have been in the minds of many fans recently and in this post we’d like to put down a summary of them in case you don’t have the time to listen to the full interview (which we wholeheartedly recommend, though!). Let’s get to the important stuff then, shall we?

ON CONTINUING WITHOUT DAVID
For the past few years, many fans have still been quite unsure about the current situation in Simple Plan after the rather vague announcement of David’s departure from the band, following the sexual misconduct allegations. In this interview, we decided not to ask but rather give the guys space to tell the fans how they feel about the situation without putting them on the spot with any specifics. And while it is still a very sensitive subject, which the guys can’t talk about in details, we think they made it clear that at least for now, the only way to go is to continue as a four piece. No plans on adding a new member to the band are on the horizon.

THE FUTURE OF SP CREW
For many hardcore Simple Plan fans, it has been a sad few years after their official fanclub SP Crew, which used to offer some amazing perks such as soundchecks with the band, has stopped functioning. The band knows this is an important feature in the fandom and they told us it is on their to-do list to bring it back in some new form. The fans however need to be aware that when it is back, they must not expect it to be the same as it used to be, but the band is trying to come up with a concept that would work out both for the band and for the fans and offer them something worthwhile.

SNGA AND GYHO ON VINYL
We also raised the question about the possible release of the not-yet-released Simple Plan albums on vinyl – Still Not Getting Any and Get Your Heart On. The guys said that that is another thing that is in works and they are thinking about either releasing them either separately or perhaps even as a boxset.

MUSIC VIDEO FOR ‘ICONIC’ FEAT. JAX?
By asking the guys two seemingly unrelated questions, we might have actually made them spill the beans about a secret project. Judging by Chuck’s “secretive hints”, it looks like Simple Plan might be releasing a music video for the song ‘Iconic(which has been a hit on many radio stations at least in the Czech Republic for a while now) and that release might actually feature a collaboration with Jax, an American singer/songwriter, mostly popular for her viral song ‘Victoria’s Secret’. We can’t wait to find out more!

TOURING PLANS FOR 2024
A question we could not have not asked was about Simple Plan’s touring plans for the foreseeable future. According to Chuck and Jeff, the band still aims to visit places they haven’t been to after the pandemic – and that is Australia and South America. Besides that they also revealed to us that their plans include a European tour very early in the new year (2024).

NEW MUSIC ON THE HORIZON
It is not just touring that the guys have their minds set on, though. They still have some new songs left over from the recording session of Harder Than It Looks and they are trying to come up with ways how to release them – possibly similarly to their EP from 2013 that came out after Get Your Heart On with a few unreleased tracks.

25th ANNIVERSARY PLANS
During the interview, the boys have also mentioned that Simple Plan’s 25th anniversary is coming up in 2024, which deserves to be celebrated, so it is possible that some of the previously mentioned things – such as the vinyls or the EP might be tied to this special anniversary next year. And of course knowing Simple Plan, we can always expect a lot more exciting stuff!

Watch Simple Plan’s new music video: ‘Ruin My Life’ feat. Deryck Whibley

The time is finally here! Simple Plan just released their brand new pop punk single ‘Ruin My Life’ feat. Deryck Whibley, which you can now fully stream on Spotify and all the other streaming platforms.

Besides the single, the band also dropped a new music video for this song, which also features Deryck Whibley. The video was filmed in Los Angeles on February 2nd by director Jensen Noen (who also directed The Antidote) and just like for The Antidote, the executive producer behind it was our well-known Frank Borin, a good friend and director of many previous SP videos.

Check it out below:

And if you’d like to sing-along, here’s the full lyrics to Ruin My Life:

I used to lie awake and let you occupy my mind
I used to put you first and always leave myself behind
And I’ll admit you got real close but I’ll be sleeping fine tonight
Sorry, I don’t mean to disappoint you
You didn’t ruin my life

Why did I let you in my head
I never should have let you creep in
Every single word you said
Got to find a way to shake it

You don’t want to let me be
You want to see me fall to pieces
Trying to put a curse on me
Got to find a way to break it

I used to lie awake and let you occupy my mind
I used to put you first and always leave myself behind
And I’ll admit you got real close but I’ll be sleeping fine tonight
Sorry, I don’t mean to disappoint you
You didn’t ruin my life

Some days I just can’t win
You’re always there to point your finger
But words will never pierce my skin
Finally found a way to shake them
You can spill your hate on me
Now I know that I can take it
And you’re the one who’s hurt
Clearly you’re the one who’s really breaking

I used to lie awake and let you occupy my mind
I used to put you first and always leave myself behind
And I’ll admit you got real close but I’ll be sleeping fine tonight
Sorry, I don’t mean to disappoint you
You didn’t ruin my life
