Big recap of Simple Plan’s Australian tour

Over the past week, Simple Plan have been taking Australia by storm, playing six shows in five cities: Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney. Melbourne was the only city that got to experience Simple Plan twice during this tour as due to enormous demand, the fans managed to immediately sell out the first announced show, making Simple Plan to add a second show, which got sold out soon after. Another sold out show of this tour was Sydney.

Many fans gathered to witness this special once-in-a-lifetime 15th anniversary No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour and they were in for some great shows. For this tour, after Real Friends had to cancel their appearance on this tour, Simple Plan chose the Australian bands Eat Your Heart Out and Stateside as supporting acts.

Simple Plan’s setlist was very reliable as every night the band decided not to change any of their songs and delivered this classic version of their No Pads setlist:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. The Worst Day Ever
3. You Don’t Mean Anything
4. I’m Just A Kid
5. When I’m With You
6. Meet You There
7. Addicted
8. My Alien
9. God Must Hate Me
10. I Won’t Be There
11. One Day
12. Grow Up
13. Perfect

Encore:
14. Shut Up!
15. Jump
16. Boom
17. Jet Lag
18. Summer Paradise
19. Crazy
20. Welcome To My Life

There was one surprise, however, when on a couple of dates on this tour, Simple Plan invited Erin Reus, the lead singer of Stateside to join them as the female vocals in Jet Lag. This way, Erin has become another woman on the list of singers, who have over the years collaborated on this song. You can check out her appearance on stage in Melbourne below:

The guys had an amazing time in Australia and expressed many times over the past few days that they’ve had some of their favorite shows there. After the final show in Sydney, Simple Plan of course didn’t forget to take the final farewell group picture of themselves with the opening bands and the crew. Check it out below:

Real Friends cancel their appearance as an opening act on Simple Plan’s Australian tour

Earlier this morning, Real Friends’ lead singer Dan Lambton announced on Facebook that due to his band’s and psychiatrist’s recommendation, Real Friends will be cancelling their upcoming tour in Australia and Europe, while Dan takes the time off to deal with his recent diagnosis of bipolar disorder. In Australia, Real Friends were supposed to join Simple Plan in April as their opening act on their tour alongside the band Eat Your Heart Out.

In response to these news, Simple Plan made a statement wishing Dan all the best when dealing with his mental health issues while announcing that instead of Real Friends, Stateside will be joining them on the Australian tour. Read their full statement below:

“We are very saddened to hear that Dan, the lead singer from Real Friends, is struggling with mental health issues and that him and the band won’t be able to perform with us on our upcoming Australian #NPNHJBtour. We wish him and his band mates all the best and hope they will overcome this challenge and be back on stage performing soon.

We are thrilled to announce that Stateside has agreed to join the tour and will be playing with us and Eat Your Heart Out on all our upcoming Australian dates.

We can’t wait for these shows and hope to see all our Australian fans at the shows!”

Lead singer of Forever Ends Here: “Simple Plan made us feel so incredibly welcome”

It’s been a little over a year since Simple Plan toured Australia with their Taking One For The Team tour in September 2016 but the memories from that tour still strongly resonate not only in the Australian fans, but also in the opening band on that tour, Forever Ends Here.

Luke McChesney (21), the lead singer of Forever Ends Here (pictured on the left), recently gave an interview to Amnplyfi.com.au about the band’s recent break-up, its farewell tour and also about all the good memories he’s ever had with this band.

Over the years, this Australian band has toured with many notable acts in the pop punk scene, such as State Champs or Neck Deep, but despite all that, Luke’s favorite memory is still associated with last year’s tour with Simple Plan – his childhood heroes. Check out all the nice things Luke had to say about Simple Plan in the excerpt from his Amnplyfi interview below:

“I celebrated my 20th birthday last year on stage with Simple Plan in Melbourne – they brought me up and sung me happy birthday during their set. That has to take the cake. The whole tour we did last year with Simple Plan will always be my favourite actually. I was in the front row of a Simple Plan mosh pit when I was only 11 years old and they played such a huge role in my childhood. Not only were we lucky enough to share the stage with them but we actually got to spend a lot of time together as well. We shared a dressing room in Brisbane and Melbourne, they watched our set, offered their feedback, shared their stories and made us feel so incredibly welcome.”

Watch Patent Pending and Simple Plan race Mario karts

Simple Plan’s No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls tour with Patent Pending and Hit The Lights continues tonight in Nashville, TN – but before we get to tonight’s show, let’s talk about what SP were up to back in Austin.

A “rivarly” between SP and Patent Pending has (according to their own words on Instagram) developed over time on tour and has now moved to a parking lot in Austin, where the final battle took place. And given how obsessed some of the band members are with video games, it was only fitting that they brought them to real life for this battle.

So place your bets and guess who won in this Mario karts race before watching the video below – was it Patent Pending… or Simple Plan?

As the opening act for the current Mexican tour, Simple Plan chose We The Kings – American pop-rock band they have previously shared the stage many times – for instance in the U.S., Europe and Australia.

Since the We The Kings’ set was advertised as acoustic only, it was only the band’s lead singer, Travis Clark, who made its way to Mexico and who warms up the stage before SP hit it every night on this Mexican tour. Check out a brand new picture of the members of Simple Plan with Travis from We The Kings from last night in Mexico City:
