Chuck joined ice-hockey stars on ice before Simple Plan’s performance at Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron

Simple Plan’s presence at the Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron charitable celebrity ice-hockey match that takes place every year in August and that aims to raise funds for various charitable organizations, including the Simple Plan Foundation, has already become a tradition. And just like last year, the band was once again happy to perform at this charitable event, and Simple Plan’s drummer Chuck Comeau even got to put his skates on and join the eventually winning team composed of many NHL players in the ice-hockey match. Overall this year’s event raised $450 000 in total.

Per Simple Plan’s request, this year’s concert was not held in the middle of the ice-rink (far away from the audience), but in order to give the fans a more intimate experience, the band decided to perform in the lobby of Centre Vidéotron in Quebec City. Many fans appreciated this change, since it has given them a much better concert experience to see the band perform from up-close.

Thanks to our reader Audrey, we got ahold of the setlist of Simple Plan’s performance yesterday, which you can now check out here:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. Jet Lag
3. Welcome To My Life
4. Shut Up
5. I’m Just A Kid
6. Addicted
7. Crazy
8. Perfect

And finally, once again big thanks to Audrey for being our eyes and ears at the event yesterday – here’s a number of pictures she took of Chuck at the game as well as during the Simple Plan show later on:

Simple Plan to perform at the Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron charitable hockey match again this year

This coming August, the members of Simple Plan will repeat their appearance at the 11th edition of the Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron charitable ice-hockey match between professional ice-hockey players and amateur enthusiasts (big thanks to Valérie for the info). The band was recently announced as the main musical guest, just like last year. SP’s set is scheduled for 9:30pm as of right now.

It is unclear whether Chuck will not only grace the stage with his presence, but also again join the players on ice, as he usually does, but we’re betting he won’t let this opportunity slide.

While certainly a hugely entertaining event, Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron is however most importantly a charitable effort, which raises funds for a number of charities. This year, donations will be handed out to the following charities: Simple Plan Foundation, Le Pignon Bleu, Leucan, Fondation Philippe Boucher and Fondation Maurice Tanguay.

The Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron event will take place at Centre Videotron in Quebec, Canada on August 8th. If you’re interested in attending the match, you can secure your tickets ($25) at Ticketmaster starting March 23rd at 10am.

Simple Plan performed ‘Untitled’ at Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron ice-hockey match & more exclusive info from the event

Centre Vidéotron, the second largest ice-hockey arena in Quebec, held a very special event last night: the 10th edition of the Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron charitable ice-hockey match that attracted around 10 000 spectators. The event offered amateur players to get the unique opportunity to help support the cause as well as get to play a game with and against some of the best Canadian ice-hockey players from the NHL. Thanks to all those involved, the event eventually raised $428 000 that will benefits multiple organizations that are helping children in the Quebec City region, including the Simple Plan Foundation.

The match began around 7pm yesterday with the two competing teams on the opposite sides of the rink: Sharks vs Bruins. An avid ice-hockey fan and player himself, Simple Plan’s own Chuck Comeau joined the Sharks team for the game with #26 on his back as one of the amateurs and donated $3000 to the cause to be a part of this special occasion. The match eventually resulted in Chuck’s team’s victory (24:23 after shootouts) and even though Chuck did not score, he did get an assist for one goal for the Sharks.

Since Simple Plan were scheduled to perform as a special guest after the game was over, Chuck could not stay for the whole duration of the match and a few minutes before its end, he was replaced by Chady Awad, Simple Plan’s photographer. Check out some of the pictures of Chuck rocking the skates at Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron in our gallery (big thanks to our reader Audrey who attended the event for all the insights and some of the photos!) and also more pictures of the rest of Simple Plan at the event:

For the Simple Plan part of the event, the band surprised all the attendees of their 45-minute set by including one of the rarest songs to be found on their setlist lately – the epic ballad ‘Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me?)’. Check it out:

And on the video below, you can have a look at some of the highlights from the whole Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron event, published on Centre Vidéotron’s and Simple Plan’s Instagram Stories:

Chuck Comeau to join the ice-hockey match before Simple Plan’s Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron performance

Back in February it was announced that Simple Plan will be the main musical guest of this year’s 10th anniversary edition of the charitable ice-hockey match Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron, which will be taking place on August 9th in Centré Videotron in Quebec City, Canada.

But it won’t be just the performance that those who’ve already purchased the tickets to this event can look forward to Simple Plan-wise – one of the members of the band will actually be one of the amateur players who puts on skates and joins one of the competing teams that will otherwise feature a number of players from the NHL. And who else could it be than the only almost-pro hockey player in the band – Chuck Comeau.

In a recent interview for Journal de Quebec, Chuck revealed that he will actually be playing on the team featuring one of his good friends – San Jose Sharks’ defenceman Marc-Édouard Vlasic.

August 9th will surely be quite a busy day for Chuck – since the 40-minute Simple Plan performance starts only a few minutes after the end of the match, Chuck will have to save a lot of energy during the match to keep up with his fellow band-mates. Chuck’s in a very good shape though, so we’ll sure he’ll give both of his performances everything he’s got.

Check out the just released promo video for the match, which also revealed that Simple Plan Foundation is one of the beneficiaries of this charitable event:
