The song ‘What’s New, Scooby-Doo?’ finally gets an official lyric video

20 years after the first release of the animated TV series ‘What’s New, Scooby-Doo?’ which featured an intro song of the same name by Simple Plan, ‘What’s New, Scooby-Doo?’ finally got to have it’s own official lyrics video, which you can now stream on YouTube.

The video, edited by Brent Hallman (Tivoli Films Inc./Hallman Animation Studios) includes the original animated members of Simple Plan from the episode ‘Simple Plan and the Invisible Madman’ (where the SP members also voiced their own characters).

Simple Plan performed ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’ at Purdue University

To finish their North American tour off in a style, Simple Plan chose for the final show to be a free show at the Purdue University in Indiana, where thousands of people gathered to see SP play.

Since it was a university show, most of the people there were in their 20s, it made sense for Simple Plan to add a very special song on their No Pads setlist – that song being ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’, a.k.a. the title track for the self-titled animated TV series from the early 00s.

Simple Plan surprise crowd with ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo’ in Newfoundland!

When in Newfoundland on Friday, where they performed their last show before returning home for a couple weeks, Simple Plan pulled out the big guns and decided to surprise their local fans with a track that Canada has not heard in a while!

Arguably one of their most popular songs – despite the fact that not many people are aware it was them who sings the theme song for one of this beloved cartoon – ‘What’s New Scooby Doo?’ was played live at the George Street Canada Day celebrations on Friday. And people were stoked!

The distributor has recently announced that on April 1st they will be debuting their “______ and Friends” line-up of budget-priced DVD releases – for $9.97 – featuring 8 titles including the “Scooby-Doo And Friends” DVD (others in the line feature the characters of Superman, Batman, Daffy Duck, Bugs Bunny, Tweety Pie and Tom and Jerry). Simple Plan music featured in the Scooby-Doo musical

The fans have been connecting Simple Plan to Scooby-Doo almost ever since the band formated – around the year 2003 the guys recorded a song to the animated TV series “What’s New Scooby-Doo?”, and even got themselves animated for on of the series’ episodes. Next, we could also hear Simple Plan’s music, particularly the songs Grow Up and Don’t Wanna Think About You in the two Scooby-Doo movies and the song Don’t Wanna Think About You was also made into a music video, in which Simple Plan are running to the Scooby-Doo premiere.

And today, many years after the last time we’ve heard about SP and Scooby-Doo, we’ve got another connection! Simple Plan’s music has been chosen again to represent Scooby-Doo – this time around in the french Scoobyu-Doo musical, which has been very successful in the past years. The people of Paris could have seen the repeated performance on January 2nd 2011 and the rest of France can check it out in the following months, as the musical continues with its national tour. Here you can check out more info about this musical (in French).

Here you can check out the musical’s teaser (with the english version of What’s New Scoody-Doo – not SP’s though):
