Big recap of Simple Plan’s Australian tour

Over the past week, Simple Plan have been taking Australia by storm, playing six shows in five cities: Gold Coast, Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney. Melbourne was the only city that got to experience Simple Plan twice during this tour as due to enormous demand, the fans managed to immediately sell out the first announced show, making Simple Plan to add a second show, which got sold out soon after. Another sold out show of this tour was Sydney.

Many fans gathered to witness this special once-in-a-lifetime 15th anniversary No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour and they were in for some great shows. For this tour, after Real Friends had to cancel their appearance on this tour, Simple Plan chose the Australian bands Eat Your Heart Out and Stateside as supporting acts.

Simple Plan’s setlist was very reliable as every night the band decided not to change any of their songs and delivered this classic version of their No Pads setlist:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. The Worst Day Ever
3. You Don’t Mean Anything
4. I’m Just A Kid
5. When I’m With You
6. Meet You There
7. Addicted
8. My Alien
9. God Must Hate Me
10. I Won’t Be There
11. One Day
12. Grow Up
13. Perfect

Encore:
14. Shut Up!
15. Jump
16. Boom
17. Jet Lag
18. Summer Paradise
19. Crazy
20. Welcome To My Life

There was one surprise, however, when on a couple of dates on this tour, Simple Plan invited Erin Reus, the lead singer of Stateside to join them as the female vocals in Jet Lag. This way, Erin has become another woman on the list of singers, who have over the years collaborated on this song. You can check out her appearance on stage in Melbourne below:

The guys had an amazing time in Australia and expressed many times over the past few days that they’ve had some of their favorite shows there. After the final show in Sydney, Simple Plan of course didn’t forget to take the final farewell group picture of themselves with the opening bands and the crew. Check it out below:

Simple Plan back on stage: first two days performing at Walt Disney World in Florida

For the first time this year and after months of relaxing and vacationing, Simple Plan got together again this week in Florida, where just like last year they once again took part in the Garden Rocks festival series at the Walt Disney World resort. Simple Plan will be playing for four days straight – three 30-minute sets per day.

The first two days of performances took place this Friday and Saturday, where the four members of Simple Plan (with David still being absent) performed for a full auditorium each of the 6 times. It appears that the band decided to mix it up a little bit and offer a different setlist at each of the many performances in order for fans to experience more songs during the three performances every day. You can see a setlist from one of the sets on the image on the left.

Now, come check out some of the glamorous pictures from the first two days of Simple Plan at the Walt Disney World in our gallery – Day 1 can be found under the first thumbnail, Day 2 under the second one:

Simple Plan return to Hawaii for the first time in 15 years & bring back Scooby-Doo!

It was quite fitting that for the one-off 15th anniversary No Pads show on their way from Japan back to mainland, Simple Plan visited Hawaii, where they haven’t set foot in 15 years.

Their stay there started and ended with a day off, which the band members took advantage off by exploring the beautiful local beaches, reading and relaxing. You can see some pictures from their stay there in the gallery (link below).

The Simple Plan show in Honolulu at The Republik venue has been sold-out for weeks and by the reactions from it, it was truly the place to be on Sunday night! Simple Plan might have performed their regular setlist – but with a very special last-minute addition. As a request from the audience, Pierre decided to play the fan-favorite ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’ in between ‘Boom’ and ‘Your Love Is A Lie’ during the encore.

Simple Plan hitchhiked to Vancouver to play first show of their Canadian tour

After Seattle, the guys from Simple Plan were supposed to kick off their Canadian tour two days later in Vancouver, however they almost didn’t make it there. As luck would have it, due to some issues at the U.S./Canadian border, which wouldn’t clear their tourbus to enter Canada for at least a few hours, Chuck and Jeff took a cab to Vancouver, while Pierre, Seb and Chady were aiming at an Uber.

Unfortunately, Uber doesn’t operate in Vancouver, so after not being able to find any around, Chady decided to save the situation by hitchhiking. And since the guys were already pretty much in Canada, its known hospitality proved itself just a moment later! A nice guy named Sean immediately stopped for the trio and gave them a ride all the way to Vancouver.

The guys then invited Sean to their show and he filmed the moment they spoke about him on stage. Check out the story from Pierre’s words below:

The guys also added one additional song to the setlist – Summer Paradise, and also kept Jet Lag from the previous night:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. The Worst Day Ever
3. You Don’t Mean Anything
4. I’m Just A Kid
5. When I’m With You
6. Meet You There
7. Addicted
8. My Alien
9. God Must Hate Me
10. I Won’t Be There
11. One Day
12. Grow Up
13. Perfect

Encore:
14. Shut Up!
15. Jump
16. Boom
17. Jet Lag
18. Summer Paradise
19. Crazy
20. Welcome To My Life

A couple of other more familiar faces also appeared at the Simple Plan show in Vancouver – Mike Ayley from Marianas Trench was seen in the crowd and so was also Bob Rock, who produced Simple Plan’s album ‘Still Not Getting Any’. Below, you can check out the links to some backstage shots of SP members with Bob Rock and also the first pictures from the Vancouver show:

The one Texas show that did happen: photos and setlist from Dallas, TX

Before Simple Plan had to postpone the remainder of their Texas shows (Houston and Austin) due to the weather conditions brought by hurricane Harvey, they managed to play one show in this American state – in Dallas. A few pictures already popped up on the Internet from this concert and below you can also have a look at what the setlist of the show – and this American No Pads tour – looked like.

If we compare this setlist to the European No Pads tour setlist, we can see that there are some minor differences between the encore songs, which are supposed to include the band’s “greatest hits” from albums 2-5. And since these albums were perceived differently in Europe and America, this might be the reason behind why Summer Paradise (a massive hit in Europe, while not as popular in the U.S.) was omitted in the U.S. setlist – and replaced with the more emotional – This Song Saved My Life. The setlist also doesn’t feature Jet Lag, which the band performed at a number of gigs in Europe.

It is quite safe to assume that the band will be following this setlist for the rest of the No Pads tour, possibly only changing a song or two in the encore. Check it out below:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. The Worst Day Ever
3. You Don’t Mean Anything
4. I’m Just A Kid
5. When I’m With You
6. Meet You There
7. Addicted
8. My Alien
9. God Must Hate Me
10. I Won’t Be There

15. Jump
16. Boom
17. Your Love Is A Lie
18. This Song Saved My Life
19. Crazy
20. Welcome To My Life
