Simple Plan change setlist for Rio de Janeiro

The guys from Simple Plan arrived to Rio de Janeiro yesterday and their first steps led them to the Copacabana beach. After hanging out there in the sunshine for a bit, the guys headed to the Circo Voador venue, where they gave some interviews, hung out with fans and prepared for the night’s show. Check out some pictures from SP’s first day in Rio this year:

And finally, it was time for the show in one of Brazil’s biggest cities to begin. Herby Moreau captured this cool video of the moments right before the start of the show. Check it out here:

Show in Belo Horizonte: Pierre clears up untrue rumors

On Thursday, Simple Plan performed their second show in Brazil this year – at the Music Hall in the city of Belo Horizonte.

And after the past few days of concerning fans’ speculations swirling around the Internet regarding the possibility of David leaving the band after the sudden announcement of him not being able to attend the South American tour, Pierre decided to clear up these rumors at the show in BH. According to the concert goers, Pierre confirmed that they are still a band with 5 members, hinting on the fact that David is not going anywhere. That is also supported by the band’s official statement, which says that they look forward to playing with him on the shows next year. Check out the video of Pierre getting his point across on a video here.

One more thing regarding David’s absence: apparently during some parts of the shows when Seb plays David’s bass, Chady can be spotted in the background playing Seb’s electric guitar – Pierre also confirmed this in his “David speech” last night – see a video of that here (thanks to Bruno for the info).

Setlist-wise, the concert in Belo Horizonte was identical to the one in Sao Paulo. The band didn’t choose to change any song on the list:

1. Opinion Overload
2. Jet Lag
3. Jump (‚I Gotta Feeling‘ snippet)
4. I’d Do Anything
5. Boom

Simple Plan kick off South American tour with first show in Brazil: Sao Paulo & confirm David’s pre-recorded bass

The day so many Brazilians have been waiting for for the past 4 years finally arrived yesterday. Simple Plan returned to the country with a bang and delivered an amazing show to their first brazilian audience of the South American tour – in Sao Paulo. The concert took place at the Citibank Hall, which has the capacity of 7000 people and even though the concert wasn’t fully sold-out, from the pictures we can already tell that it was definitely one of the (if not THE) biggest headlining shows Simple Plan have done on the Taking One For The Team tour so far.

The guys came well prepared, as you can tell from Pierre’s words in Portuguese [see the image on the left], he wrote down before the show, to keep his speeches in the local language fluent and correct. Their preparedness was also seen from the fact how well was the band able to adapt to the fact that their bassplayer David Desrosiers had to pull out of this tour last minute, due to personal reasons. As we’ve reported before, Sebastien was seen picking up the bass here and there during the show, but played his electric guitars as well. According to SPB, it was said by Pierre on the stage that David actually pre-recorded some bass lines for the tour, so that his absence would not be as troublesome for the band. Check out Pierre’s speech below:

“It’s good to be back in Brazil! In case you didn’t notice, I’m sure you can see we’re missing someone here tonight. David couldn’t make it on this tour. But! We did not want to cancel our Brazilian tour for our fans here! So back home, we recorded David’s bass and he’s playing with us tonight. He’s here in spirit. And he’s here on stage with the music with us tonight.”

And now finally – the setlist! Just like we expected, not much has changed on the setlist overall, but the Brazilian fans did get to hear Perfectly Perfect live and the guys also kept Untitled on the setlist. Interestingly, the band decided not to perform the second single ‘Singing In The Rain’ at the show, quite possibly because they chose to perform ‘Perfectly Perfect’ instead.

Simple Plan bring back ‘Perfectly Perfect’ to Philadelphia

After Baltimore, Simple Plan headed to Philadelphia, PA yesterday, where they had yet another sold-out show to perform at. It is no wonder the show was sold-out as the Theatre of Living Arts venue holds only about 800 people.

To the surprise of many attendees, Simple Plan finally changed their setlist a bit again by returning their newest single ‘Perfectly Perfect’ on it for the first time since Santa Ana – replacing their previous single ‘Singing In The Rain’. According to Theresa‘s review she sent us, neither Pierre nor David attended the soundcheck in Philadelphia yesterday, so the fans were only greeted by Chuck, Jeff and Sebastien. To make up for the two’s absence, Chuck held a little Q&A session with the fans, who could have asked him everything and anything. Here’s a little tidbits of information from this Q&A and the soundcheck itself:

– when asked why the tour was so short, the band replied that it was hard to book because so many places were already booked by other artists
– the band is currently trying to plan out another national tour in the U.S. to hit more places (nothing booked or confirmed as of yet, though)
– the fans also asked the guys to play ‘Vacation’, but they didn’t remember how to play it
– Chuck, Jeff and Seb played ‘Take My Hand’ at the soundcheck

You can check out a bit o the Q&A on the following video:

And as always, here’s a bunch of photos from the show in Philly from last night you can have a look at in the gallery:
