Simple Plan perform Grow Up and more at first NPNHJB show in NYC

Last night in New York City was definitely one to remember! Thousands of fans gathered at the PlayStation Theatre near Times Square to see Simple Plan play the very first show of their 15th anniversary No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour. And from the reactions on social media, they left stunned by the amazing throwbacks throughout the whole night.

Before Simple Plan hit the stage, the fans had the chance to witness the performances of Patent Pending and Set It Off. Shortly after that the lights dimmed and our 5 boys from Simple Plan took the stage and kicked off their official first show of the year with ‘I’d Do Anything’ – the first song off their first record. After that the band continued the set with all the songs from their debut album, in order.

One surprising moment came right before the fans expected ‘Perfect’ to come next, as Simple Plan threw the fan-favorite b-side ‘Grow Up’ to the setlist. And not only that – in the middle of Grow Up, Chuck made a short speech to the fans, thanking them for allowing them to continue on this crazy journey for more than 15 years now. He finished the speech by jumping into the crowd and crowdsurfing, as Grow Up continued with Pierre behind the drums.

Check out this amazing moment below:

The picture of the actual printed setlist from the NYC show, which you can see above, also revealed another thing: it looks like the band is planning on switching between playing Grow Up and Vacation on the upcoming NPNHJB shows and playing just one of these songs each night.

[Sidenote: try finding one tiny error on the printed-out NYC setlist :)]

After Grow Up, the band ended the NPNHJB part of the show with their traditional closer ‘Perfect’. But that wasn’t all for the night! The band soon returned to the stage to perform some of the greatest hits from their other albums as well.

Check out the whole setlist below (big thanks to Katie, Kellie and Kristen-Anne for the help with the setlist):

1. I’d Do Anything
2. The Worst Day Ever
3. You Don’t Mean Anything
4. I’m Just A Kid
5. When I’m With You
6. Meet You There
7. Addicted
8. My Alien
9. God Must Hate Me
10. I Won’t Be There
11. One Day
12. Grow Up
13. Perfect

Encore:
14. Shut Up!
15. Jump
16. Jet Lag
17. Your Love Is A Lie
18. Summer Paradise
19. Boom
20. Welcome To My Life

Patent Pending to open for Simple Plan this week in New York City

The No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour officially kicks off a week before Simple Plan’s first album’s 15th anniversary with an added show in New York City, which will take place at the Playstation Theatre on Times Square tomorrow, March 10th.

And besides Set It Off, who are accompanying Simple Plan on the whole U.S. leg of the NPNHJB tour, Simple Plan will be joined for this night only also by the New York-based pop-punk band Patent Pending.

Now, you may say – I think I’ve heard that name in Simple Plan news before! And you are right! Patent Pending filmed a video back in 2011, in which they created a song dedicated to Simple Plan, asking them to take them on tour (“or for even a show or two”). And lo and behold, 6 years later Patent Pending’s dream is finally coming true!

Simple Plan’s sold-out show in Detroit moved to a bigger venue – more tickets released

After it was announced that Simple Plan’s show in Detroit, MI on April 3rd was sold-out, the band immediately tried looking for alternative ways how to make sure that more fans from the Detroit area could attend their show without having to book another concert, which would already be impossible due to the band’s busy schedule on the upcoming U.S. No Pads tour.

And they found a solution! The band decided to move the show from St Andrew’s Hall (which holds up to 1000 people) to an almost three times as big venue – The Fillmore Detroit (with the capacity of 2888 people), which means almost 2000 more tickets for the show are now available for purchase. Presale is already up on Ticketmaster. Check out the details below:
