The song ‘What’s New, Scooby-Doo?’ finally gets an official lyric video

20 years after the first release of the animated TV series ‘What’s New, Scooby-Doo?’ which featured an intro song of the same name by Simple Plan, ‘What’s New, Scooby-Doo?’ finally got to have it’s own official lyrics video, which you can now stream on YouTube.

The video, edited by Brent Hallman (Tivoli Films Inc./Hallman Animation Studios) includes the original animated members of Simple Plan from the episode ‘Simple Plan and the Invisible Madman’ (where the SP members also voiced their own characters).

Simple Plan surprise with ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo’ on their San Diego County Fair setlist

On Wednesday, all five members of Simple Plan were ready to once again give it all they’ve got together on stage at the San Diego County Fair, where they were expected to perform that evening as that night’s headlining act at the fair, attracting a very big crowd to the stage all day.

Interestingly enough, as far as setlist goes, the band decided to switch things up quite a bit and offered the crowd a number of tracks that we don’t get to perform that often – including ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’, ‘The Rest Of Us’, ‘Me Against The World’ or ‘Untitled’. Check out the full setlist below:

1. I’d Do Anything
2. Jet Lag
3. Jump
4. Your Love Is a Lie
5. Me Against the World
6. Addicted
7. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
8. The Rest of Us
9. What’s New Scooby Doo
10. The Worst Day Ever
11. Summer Paradise
12. I’m Just a Kid
Encore:
13. Shut Up
14. Perfect World
15. Untitled
16. Perfect

And here you can watch a video of the fore-mentioned live version of ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’, which was filmed for us by May (thanks a lot!):

Simple Plan return to Hawaii for the first time in 15 years & bring back Scooby-Doo!

It was quite fitting that for the one-off 15th anniversary No Pads show on their way from Japan back to mainland, Simple Plan visited Hawaii, where they haven’t set foot in 15 years.

Their stay there started and ended with a day off, which the band members took advantage off by exploring the beautiful local beaches, reading and relaxing. You can see some pictures from their stay there in the gallery (link below).

The Simple Plan show in Honolulu at The Republik venue has been sold-out for weeks and by the reactions from it, it was truly the place to be on Sunday night! Simple Plan might have performed their regular setlist – but with a very special last-minute addition. As a request from the audience, Pierre decided to play the fan-favorite ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’ in between ‘Boom’ and ‘Your Love Is A Lie’ during the encore.

Simple Plan performed ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’ at Purdue University

To finish their North American tour off in a style, Simple Plan chose for the final show to be a free show at the Purdue University in Indiana, where thousands of people gathered to see SP play.

Since it was a university show, most of the people there were in their 20s, it made sense for Simple Plan to add a very special song on their No Pads setlist – that song being ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’, a.k.a. the title track for the self-titled animated TV series from the early 00s.

Check out a video of SP performing this song at Purdue University last night:

LISTEN: Original version of ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’ now available in HQ

Arguably one of Simple Plan’s most popular songs, known primarily from the self-titled animated TV series‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’ has been around for 15 years now. However as the song’s never been released in its original for on any of Simple Plan’s albums, over these 15 years, the only version we’ve known is the slightly edited version, which is featured as the theme song for the TV series, which includes various added sounds.

Now finally, a high quality original version of this track has been posted on YouTube, which seems to feature none of the added sound effects and also the intro has audible drums in it, which weren’t featured in the theme song version.

Check out the HQ version here to see what the original song Simple Plan recorded for this series sounded like – and you can then compare it to the theme song version below:
