Wavin’ Flag by Young Artists For Haiti wins on Juno Awards

Yesterday’s evening in Toronto, Canada was one of the most important evenings for music industry – it was the night of the Juno Awards, which are commonly compared to the American Grammy Awards. Among the nomines in the Single Of The Year category was also a group of a artists called Young Artists For Haiti, that (about a year ago) had recorded K’Naan’s song Wavin’ Flag – with all the proceeds going straight to help the victims of the earthquake in Haiti, that has occured 2010. 57 young Canadian artists were involved in this project, to name a few: Avril Lavigne, Lights, Deryck Whibley from Sum 41, Justin Bieber, Jacob Hoggard from Hedley and also the lead singer of Simple Plan – Pierre Bouvier.

And even though Young Artists For Haiti were up against a pretty strong competition: a re-do of the Canadian anthem, hitsong Perfect by the band Hedley or last year’s winter Olympics’ anthem, they apparently were still the best and won the Juno Award for the Single Of The Year. Congratulations!
