When Brook Peters was 4 years old, he was one of the little kids in a kindergarten that was located somewhere around the the place that we now call Ground Zero in the New York City. It was his second day of kindergarten when September 11th happened. And even though he or his family hasn’t been harmed, many firefighters lost their lives saving the people from there. These firefighters have been like Brook’s second family, as he’s pretty much grown in fire houses.
That is why when Brook turned 11, he decided to create his own documentary called “The Second Day”, which captured personal reflections on the day after the attacks on the World Trade Center. Brook finished the film when he was 14 years old. The Second Day premiered on the Tribeca Film Festival in the New York City, where it has received a standing ovation.
Brook is now fifteen and still making his way into the film/documentary industry. His first film made him realize how universal the story he shared through it, is, and how inspirational the messages of inner strength and resilience can be to other people. That’s why he’s decided to follow up with his own campaign called Show Your Strength and asked people from all around the world to share their messages of strength which then Brook put all into a video. A couple months ago, Simple Plan found out about this campaign and offered to support it with their song “What If”.
This is what Brook Peters has said about Simple Plan’s What If:
“I approached Simple Plan to use the song What If as the soundtrack to the Show Your Strength video because I feel it makes listeners question what they can do to change themselves and, in turn, help to change the world.”
