A Chuck Comeau produced film about the resurgence of pop-punk to be released in 2017

Besides being a great drummer, Chuck Comeau from Simple Plan has always been very interested in the music business in general and as a result of that he is often the force and the mastermind behind most of Simple Plan’s endeavours. Now, he has decided to take his interest in his band’s music scene to the next level by getting involved as a producer in a new documentary film project by Epik films, which delves into the topic of the current resurgence of pop-punk.

Recent years, but especially 2016, have brought us an exceptional number of new records and a general growth of interest in the pop-punk scene. Not only by newer bands like State Champs or Neck Deep, but also by bands who have been the leaders of the original pop-punk era in the late 90s and early 00s, such as Blink 182, Green Day, Simple Plan, Yellowcard, Sum 41 or Good Charlotte. And it was exactly this matter that his band is also a part of that got Chuck interested in producing ‘Resurgence: A pop punk-umentary’.

The film is directed by Peter John, which finally answers us the question what this Australian director and his team were filming at the Simple Plan Australian and U.S. shows and why Peter John still keeps being seen alongside Chuck – such as at the recent Good Charlotte show in Los Angeles.

Epik films have also already released a trailer for this film, which is scheduled to be released in 2017 (however, it is currently unknown by which medium it will be distributed). From this trailer we can tell that besides fans, the documentary will also feature a number of interviews with people tied to the music industry, such as Story Untold (who opened for SP in the U.S.), Mike Fishkin (Idobi radio host), members of Neck Deep, Chuck Comeau of course and many more.
