Happy 6th birthday SimplePlan.cz

Six years.

Six.. Years. Can you imagine? If this website was human, it would be about time for it to start elementary school! And as a „parent“, I feel pretty damn proud of what SimplePlan.cz has managed to accomplish in this time.

But just like in the human life, even in the online world is everything influenced by the people around. Not just by the parents – but also by the family, friends and other people we interact with on daily basis.

You, the readers, are somewhat like friends to this website. You were the ones who have helped it grow and stood by its side for all these years – some for a shorter time than others, but in friendship it’s not the longevity that counts the most – it‘s the loyalty, trust and support. And your support has been tremendous. It still fascinates me every day that wherever Simple Plan are at the moment, there is always someone who’s around the same place as them, who’s willing to share his/her pictures, videos and stories – whether it’s Canada, Brazil, Australia or Italy – to help the site stay updated. There is so many of you who keep contributing to the site and I want to thank each and every one of you who has ever reached out to share any sort of content with this website. And I’m sure some of the other visitors would wanna thank you too. I’m so glad I had the pleasure of meeting many of you [from so many different countries] in person during the past few years. Thanks for everything.

As for the “family”, that would be the main reasons we’re all here: Simple Plan. I am incredibly proud of everything you guys do every single day. You haven’t changed a bit in all those years I have known you and if you have then it was only for the better. If you weren’t such outstanding human beings, I don’t think this website would have been here for this long. And I am so proud to be able to report on all the good you guys do with the power you have been given. You save and change our lives every single day – even just by making us smile. I actually graduated college this year with a degree in media.. and I know for a fact that I wouldn’t have done it without you. I genuinely wouldn’t be here, at this exact place in my life, if it wasn’t for you. So for the billionth time, thank you Pierre, Seb, David, Jeff and Chuck – thanks for visiting the website and thanks for taking the time to do all the interviews. A huge thanks also goes to Sim for always being super cool and helpful to me.

And what were the highlights for SP.cz in the past year? Still no new design, that’s for sure.. [which lame excuse do you wanna hear first?], but there was definitely a couple of cool things happening – SimplePlan.cz was credited in the official book/biography – Simple Plan: The Official Story after being asked to submit a couple of pictures of fans‘ tattoos, the long-awaited interview with Chuck finally happened over Skype in January and brought some very interesting new info on various subjects, along with a few fans who attended the 10th SP fans’ meeting in the Czech Republic we recorded a Harlem Shake video and I also can’t forget the little interview with SP’s main designer, Fred Jerome. Apart from that, the website has gained many more new readers – the Facebook page now enlists over 5600 fans, the Twitter page is closing to 5000 and the most watched interview (from 2011) is at 12 000 views! Not to mention that there was over 550 articles posted on SimplePlan.cz just in the past year and the gallery has recently surpassed 30 000 photos.

And the story will go on. This website has become a part of who I am – it brings me so much joy and keeps me sane when things get rough. I already have so many new ideas for lots of new sections and additions to the website in my mind for the future, so you can definitely look forward to that – as well as the regular updates that should get even more exciting in the months to come as SP will continue working on their EP and after that on their fifth studio album. So keep in touch – I definitely will.

P.S.: As a little birthday surprise, I have been working really hard on one specific section on SimplePlan.cz – the Man Of The Hour section. Although it’s not exactly finished yet, you can already find a full recap of the most interesting/important bits of conversation, names of featured songs, download links and more info on every single episode from seasons 1 to 10. I’m still working on seasons 11 and 12, but those should be ready in just a few days. I hope you’ll enjoy these new minisections and hopefully they will help you make it easier whenever you find yourself looking for one particular story told on MOTH, a good song or when you’ll just want to remind yourselves of any of the funny phone calls the guys made to various members of Simple Plan during the past few years. :)
