Simple Plan are releasing No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls on vinyl!

To continue celebrating the 15th anniversary of their debut album ‘No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls’, Simple Plan are releasing this record for the first time in the form of a vinyl this year! And wanna know the best part? It’s actually already out!

This is only a mock-up visual of the No Pads vinyl and may not 100% represent the actual release.
It is currently unknown what color is the vinyl disc itself.

Despite no official confirmation from the band itself, SimplePlan.cz has found out that the Internet has been slowly filling up with links to online music stores all over the world, which already started selling the reissue of Simple Plan’s first album – on vinyl!

According to the Czech online music store Vltava.cz, the vinyl was released (at least in the Czech Republic) on June 2nd. The price ranges on various Czech online music stores between 413 to 499 CZK (from about 15.2 € to 18.5 €).

Similarly, the vinyl can also be found in Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Italy or Hungary. In most European countries, the release date was apparently June 9th. In Japan, the No Pads vinyl is expected to be released on June 30th.

All the websites indicate that the vinyl features 12 songs from No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls. That means bonus songs, such as ‘Grow Up’ or the live version of the cover of ‘American Jesus’ don’t seem to be included on this vinyl.

As the band still remains silent about the release of this vinyl, it is currently unknown when this limited edition vinyl will be available in other countries. We are currently trying to find out more official info about the release of this vinyl. Stay tuned for more info!

Simple Plan’s debut album has previously never been released on vinyl before. Its release closely follows the release of the Taking One For The Team vinyl, which is available since last year. Besides these two records, Simple Plan also released their third, self-titled album on vinyl. Singles that are available on smaller, 7-inch vinyls include Addicted, Welcome To My Life, Crazy, Untitled, Shut Up and When I’m Gone.

Simple Plan already have “a bulk of songs ready” for 6th album

In a new interview from Hungary, Simple Plan’s guitarist Jeff Stinco discussed the band’s relationship with fans, the reasonings behind David Desrosiers’ absence on tour and also surprisingly hinted on the fact that the band may already have some songs ready to go for their next album.

The Hungarian server Life.hu published an interview with Jeff Stinco today, in which the guitarist revealed a number of interesting information. First of all, this was probably one of the first interviews in which a member of the band opened up about David’s struggles with depression and how the band has dealt with this situation. Jeff even revealed that David insisted that the band continued touring without him. Check out Jeff’s quote below:

“We have a challenge on this particular tour. David, our bass player, is actually not with us. He’s having a really hard time, he’s suffering from depression, which is something that, you know, a few years back, I don’t think we could’ve discussed openly, but I think people are more open to it now. So he’s taking care of himself. And I think that as a band we decided to support him and basically allow him to take that time off and keep touring. And he wanted us to keep going, he wanted us to keep touring.

Towards the end of the interview, the conversation moved to the ever-lasting elephant in the room: when will Simple Plan release a new album? Jeff once again repeated that the band would like to not take as long as they previously have with TOFTT to make a new album but besides that he also dropped a very interesting hint on Simple Plan already having some material to work with! See what Jeff said below:

“You know what, we were planning on celebrating the 15th anniversary around the anniversary of the record, on March 19th, you know 3-4 shows and it’s becoming a full year of touring. But after that, we have to stop. Make a new record. And this time around we’re not gonna wait as long to put out new music. We have a bulk of songs that are already ready but we’re perfectionists and we wanna make sure that you know, like, what we release is actually up to par. And we’re ambitious guys, you know, we wanna… I told you earlier, we wanna keep growing and evolve and that demands time. So we’re gonna spend the time that it takes in the studio to develop those songs. As I said, it’s a work in progress. We’re gonna finish this touring, get into the studio and man, hopefully we’re not gonna take a full year of recording like we did the last time.”

As you know from the SimplePlan.cz interview, the band definitely expects some song-writing to be done but it’s very interesting to hear that Simple Plan already have some songs they can use as a starting ground. Given that Simple Plan never write on the road, it is very possible that the songs Jeff mentioned in the interview are some of the “left-overs” from the song-writing sessions from Taking One For The Team. Chuck and Pierre wrote over 80 songs for TOFTT but only 14 of them made it onto the record. Now, not all of the remaining 66 songs are completely finished, but some of them might be and perhaps these are the songs Jeff is thinking off.

It wouldn’t be the first time for Simple Plan to use old material for a new record. In 2013 Simple Plan released a whole EP “Get Your Heart On: The Second Coming”, which featured songs originally written for Get Your Heart On. Similarly also GYHO itself included a bonus track called ‘Never Should’ve Let You Go‘, which the boys wrote for their third, self-titled album. In most cases however, Simple Plan usually start working on a new album from scratch.

How do you feel about Simple Plan possibly using songs they wrote for their previous record? Would you like to listen to more songs created in the “TOFTT” era? Let us know in the comments!

VIDEO: Italian band Room On The 3rd Floor jams with Simple Plan at soundcheck in Milan

The guys from the Italian band Room On The 3rd Floor, who are all very big fans of Simple Plan attended the soundcheck party in Milan, Italy on June 16th and Jeff Stinco invited them to play ‘Addicted’ on stage with them with Pierre sang below the stage among the fans.

This was of course an amazing opportunity and a dream come true for the three young musicians and this is what they later wrote about this experience:

“Simple Plan is one of the main reason we’ve loved pop punk when we were kids and why we have a band today so, being on stage with them, play their instruments and sing with them was a surreal moment that we’ll surely never never ever forget!”

Governor General of Canada awards members of Simple Plan with the Meritorious Service Cross

At the ceremony at Ottawa’s Ridieu Hall on Friday, June 23rd, the members of Simple Plan (David excluded, due to his current health struggles) gathered to receive another significant honor for their long-time charitable efforts with the Simple Plan Foundation. As announced earlier, The Governor General of Canada, David Johnston, awarded them with the Meritorious Service Cross, a medal for an outstanding service in honor of Canada.

The members of Simple Plan brought their families to this important event to have them witness them getting honored for their philanthropic work – especially important was this event for Chuck’s parents, who stood behind the idea for Chuck’s band to start paying back and establish the Foundation over 10 years ago in the first place.

As you will be able to see from the pictures in the gallery [click on the images below], Sebastien and Jeff also didn’t forget to wear their Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal that the whole band had received in 2013.

The members of Simple Plan were greatly honored to receive the Meritorious Service Cross and they consequently expressed their gratitude on social media. See what they wrote below:

“It was an extraordinary honor to receive the Meritorious Service Cross from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, at Rideau Hall today, for our charitable work with the Simple Plan Foundation. It was a truly special day for us and the amazing team of Simple Plan Foundation volunteers who work tirelessly to help us help young people in need. We are extremely grateful and proud to be from this great country. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦”

– Jeff Stinco –

“So honored to be presented with the Meritorious Service Cross of Canada today. I’m proud to be part of SP and the simple plan foundation! Great work Chuck, Jeff, Seb and David. And special thanks to the Comeau family for helping us along the way. Merci! 🏅”

– Pierre Bouvier –

“Extremely honored and proud to have received the Meritorious Service Cross from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, for our work with the Simple Plan Foundation 🎖🎖🎖 Today was a really special day for me and I’m so grateful my parents could attend the ceremony. They came up with the idea that we start a charitable foundation more than 10 years ago and have volunteered their time and energy since then to help us build an organization that impacted the lives of many young people in need. I love them and would like to thank them for all their commitment and hard work. ❤️❤️❤️”
