Chuck about Simple Plan’s appearance at Aerodrome Festival in Prague

The Czech news website denik.cz published an article today about the upcoming Simple Plan appearance at the Aerodrome Festival in Prague, Czech Republic, which will take place on June 11th, and where Simple Plan will perform alongside Mallory Knox, Machine Gun Kelly, Enter Shikari, Royal Republic, the main headliners Linkin Park and one more band, which will be revealed in the middle of April.

In the article, Deník also briefly quotes an interview with Chuck Comeau about the Aerodrome Festival. Chuck discussed what sorts of events Simple Plan usually perform at and why it is important to them to also perform at festivals besides their own headlining shows:

“We often play in punk-rock clubs, bigger venues and even outdoors. What’s interesting about festivals is that you will find music fans there who might have never heard your music before. And that makes us work even harder to convince them that they are in the right place.”

– Chuck Comeau –

Chuck also mentioned his excitement about seeing his band perform alongside Linkin Park in June:

“We’re really happy to be sharing the stage with them. Even though their music is a bit different from ours, we believe that the visitors of the festival will enjoy both us and them.”

– Chuck Comeau –

An interview about Aerodrome Festival with a member of Simple Plan also aired at the biggest Czech commercial radio station – Evropa 2 – on Friday. The interview featured Jeff and apparently he had some very nice things to say about SimplePlan.cz during this interview. I’m still trying to get my hands on the actual interview – will post it once I receive it.

David shows new short hairdo at second NPNHJB show in NYC

Last night, Simple Plan returned to New York City for the second time on the NPNHJB tour, as this original show became sold out so quickly, the band decided to add the March 10th date as well. And while setlist-wise, the show didn’t bring us any big surprises, one big surprise came from David, who finally let the public officially see his new short hairstyle. Even though we’ve known for a while that David has recently cut his hair, he has successfully managed to keep his new hairdo hidden under a hat at every concert so far – until now. See more pictures of David’s new hair in the gallery!

As mentioned above, the setlist in New York remained the same as the previous night, with the guys still keeping Grow Up as a part of the set. Check out the full setlist below:

Simple Plan put together a couple of shots from one of the most magical shows of the NPNHJB tour so far, in Boston, MA, and created a cool little new video for I’d Do Anything.

Seb reveals Simple Plan’s plans for ‘Vacation’ on NPNHJB tour setlist

The very first printed-out setlist of the No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour from New York City revealed to us a few weeks ago that Simple Plan intended to play either Grow Up or Vacation that night. At the show, the band decided to play ‘Grow Up’ and ever since then, even though the printed-out setlists still include the phrase “Grow Up / Vacation”, the band has only performed Grow Up as the ‘bonus song’ before Perfect ever since.

Now, of course, that wasn’t a thing I could just let slide, so during Seb’s first livestream on Instagram Stories today, I asked Seb why was Vacation featured on the setlist if they never play it at the shows – and we got our answer!

According to Sebastien, on the first night, the band casually decided to go with Grow Up, thinking they may play Vacation next time. During the song, the plan was for Chuck to get the microphone and have a speech, after which he jumps in the crowd and crowdsurfs during the song while Pierre plays the drums instead. However, since then this Grow Up bit has become such an epic moment of the show, they just didn’t want to get rid of it. As far as Vacation concerns, the guys still keep it written down on the setlist, since they plan on playing that song as a surprise at certain shows on the NPNHJB tour.

There you have it. Mystery solved. Thanks, Seb! Now – which show will be the first to hear Vacation live for the first time since forever? We’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, I have updated the setlist of the No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls tour in the setlist section, so you can go check it out.
