David discusses his vegan lifestyle at SPCA Montreal

A couple weeks ago, David Desrosiers paid a visit to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Montreal, Canada, where he got to interact with the local animals and was also interviewed by Marie-Noël Gingras. Yesterday, she finally posted this interview on her blog, and in it you will find some more information about David’s veganism, that he chose as a way of life two years ago.

Along with the interview, which you will find below, you can also check out some more pictures of David at the SPCA Montreal, which show us that David apparently cut his hair for the winter quite a bit:

How did your transition towards a cruelty-free lifestyle occur?

“Through a past relationship, I had already been exposed to a vegan lifestyle. But it was after watching the documentary Earthlings that overnight I entirely stopped my consumption of animal products. Once you’ve seen it, you can’t unsee it.”

Who were your sources of inspiration?

“In my transition towards this lifestyle, I was greatly inspired by a long-time friend, who is vegan (Instagram @veganforearth), and by the Australian activist James Aspey.”

How did your friends and family react?

“Really well! I even have a positive influence on my family’s eating and purchasing habits.”

Is it easy to maintain your vegan lifestyle while on tour?

“I travel very often due to my career. Contrary to what some may think it’s not difficult to eat vegan outside the house. Often, restaurant chefs enjoy the challenge of making a creative plant-based dish when the option is not already available on the menu. In addition, Indian and Japanese cuisines often offer veggie dishes. One of my travel tricks is to bring snacks, such as VEGA bars, to the airport, in case the options are limited.”

What are your favorite Montreal restaurants?

“Aux Vivres, mainly for the BLT sandwich with coconut bacon. I also love Lola Rosa and Sushi Momo, which offers all-vegan sushi.”

What would you recommend to someone who wishes to adopt a cruelty-free vegan lifestyle?

“Do it in stages, by taking small steps… and don’t necessarily copy me, by making this change overnight! Learn about the vegan diet in order to eat in a balanced way. Watch documentaries on the topic and get inspired by people who convey a positive message, such as James Aspey.”

PHOTOS: David visits the Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals

On February 1st David Desrosiers made a visit to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Montreal, where he got to interact with the local animals and was also interviewed by Marie-Noël Gingras. Miss Gringras later on posted a photo with David from their encounter and said the following about his visit: “Afternoon with David Desrosiers before the holidays! Thank you David for your kindness and generosity! Interview will be up on the blog soon. #vegans”

The SPCA Montreal‘s (which was founded in 1869) mission is to protect animals against negligence, abuse, and exploitation, represent their interests and ensure their well-being and also raise public awareness and help develop compassion for all living beings.

For the past two years, David has been a vegan and for many years now he has also been a vocal supporter of animal rights and of fight against animal abuse. Besides reposting his picture with one of the lovely dogs from SPCA, David also thanked Marie-Noël Gingras for welcoming him at SPCA in one the comments section: “Thank you and your co-workers for your precious time and your kindness. And for all the beautiful things you do for our animal friends.”

Side-stage view of David performing with Reset

A couple days ago, SimplePLan.cz was the first to inform about David Desrosiers’ guest appearance at the Reset show at Underground Fest in Rimouski, QC, which took place last Friday, December 30th.

A new video has now surfaced online, which provides us a much better look at David performing with Reset, as it was shot from side-stage.

Check out David playing the bass with Reset for ‘My Dream And I’ and ‘Pollution’ and also singing a bit as well:

David performed with RESET at a festival in Rimouski

On December 30th 2016, the current formation of the band Reset was headlining the Underground Fest in Rimouski, QC, Canada. Reset were to perform mostly their old school hits from the No Worries and No Limits era. That is also precisely the era when some current members of Simple Plan were in starting out in this band (firstly Pierre and Chuck, who co-founded the band, and after Chuck’s and later on also Pierre’s departure, it was David who came to the rescue for a short time, before the then-starting-out Simple Plan snatched him to be in a band with them – see the full Reset history here).

Ahead of the start of the festival, it had been advertised that there would be a surprise waiting for the attendees of the festival and that surprise came true in a form of one of the former members of Reset rejoining them on stage – David Desrosiers from Simple Plan. This was David’s first public appearance ever since Simple Plan announced he wouldn’t be joining them on the South American tour due to personal reasons.

At the Underground fest, which was attended by about 50 people, David showed up around the time the last two bands of that night were supposed to play (including Reset) and eventually performed two songs with Reset – ‘My Dream And I’ and ‘Pollution’.

Check out some videos of David back on stage with Reset this past Friday below:

The last time we witnessed the members of Simple Plan reunite with their old bandmates from Reset was in 2014 when they performed a whole set at Amnesia Rockfest in June 2014.

Simple Plan about David, new Xmas song and plans for 6th album in a new interview

A new article published on the Brazilian website Revista Mais (thanks SPBR for the info), reveals a new interview with some of the guys from Simple Plan back from their visit of Brazil earlier this month.

While you can certainly read the whole interview (with the help of Google Translate), which touches the usual subjects of the new album, the band’s setlist and return to Brazil, there are a couple of specific things from this interview, which are worth pointing out.

For one, the subject of David’s absence on the South American tour was once again obviously mentioned in this article, with a yet-unheard very nice quote from Pierre, who said: “He’s very important to us, and we’re here with his support,” letting us know once again that David will be back with SP on the next upcoming shows in the new year.

Another thing that the guys pointed out in the interview was their newly released Christmas song – Christmas Every Day. We found out that the band actually recorded the song during the recording process of ‘Taking One For The Team’, but it was officially finished this November. That let’s us know that the guys probably had some more tweeking to do before they were ready to release it as a Christmas gift for their fans.

And finally, the last question of the interview asked the guys about their plans for the future. And Sebastien’s answer surely gives us new reassurance that the band is already thinking about working on album number six: “[We want to] visit some places, do some shows next year and then start working on the next album.
