David Desrosiers officially returned to touring with Simple Plan last night at Warped Tour after 2 years

Guess who’s back, back again, David’s back, tell a friend!

That’s right! Last night, the members of Simple Plan gathered at the first of three 25th anniversary Warped Tour installments in Cleveland, but this time around it wasn’t just the four of them. After battling depression, focusing on his own mental health and not touring for 2 whole years (ever since May 2017), David Desrosiers, Simple Plan’s bassist and backing vocalist, made a grand return on stage with his band right there yesterday at Warped Tour.

We’re sure you’re as excited as us to finally see him perform with SP, so here you can check out the full Warped Tour set of Simple Plan from last night in Cleveland, OH. Make sure to watch especially the beginning, where at mark 2:08 Pierre officially welcomed David back on stage:

[the video is missing the band performing the first song of the setlist – ‘I’d Do Anything’ – however you can watch it here at mark 5:52:15]

David’s bandmates also couldn’t contain their excitement of their friend being back on the road with them, so some of them took to their social media to express their feelings and properly welcome him back. Let’s have a look at what they wrote:

We are so happy to welcome back our friend and brother @daviddesrosiers on stage with us tonight in Cleveland after a 2 year hiatus. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

It’s been a long and difficult journey for David fighting depression and mental health issues and we are so thrilled to know he’s doing better and feels ready to join us again on the road.

We look forward to having him play with us at all our shows this summer and be a part of our new SP album.

David and the band would like to extend our thanks and gratitude to all our fans for the support you have shown him during his time away. Your messages of love and encouragement have meant so much and we can’t wait to play for you and share our new music. 🖤🖤🖤🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

Finally, we’d like to ask all the fans to keep being as respectful to David, as they’ve been so far for the past 2 years of his journey to recovery. Even though David is back on tour with Simple Plan, it doesn’t mean that we’ll see him take part in all other SP-related activities (interviews, events etc.). Let’s give David a proper welcome and ease up his return as much as we can. We’re ecstatic you’re back, David!

Former SP tech Frenchie shares a photo of having an ice-cream with David

One of the most beloved former SP technicians, Patrick ‘Frenchie’ Ouimet, who you may recall touring with Simple Plan in the years around 2008, recently got to hang out with one of the members of the band again – and that member was David!

On his public Instagram Story yesterday, Frenchie posted a picture of himself with David, on which these two old buddies can be seen enjoying an ice-cream in Montreal together. You can now check out that full image in our gallery.

As of right now, David is still not back on tour with Simple Plan, but if you read our recent post, you’ll know that according to Pierre, David is “almost ready” to fully join the band again.

Are you excited to see David again?

Pierre on new Simple Plan album, working with Travis Clark and David’s possible return in a new interview

Over the weekend at Slam Dunk Festival, Pierre gave an interview to Brainstorming Music, in which he revealed quite a number of interesting information about Simple Plan’s upcoming 6th album and also made a short comment about David’s possible return back on tour with the new album.

You can listen to the interview below, but due to the rather harsh sound quality, we transcribed the most important parts for you below. Definitely make sure to read through it:

How are the works for the new album going?

Pierre: It’s going amazing. Fans are gonna love it, it’s going to be the best record ever. I’m serious about it. The songs are really good. Really really good. Very very exciting. We have pretty much all written and we’re gonna hit the studio soon, we’re gonna record it and pop it out.

We know that you’re working with Travis from We The Kings. Should we expect a more pop/melodic album?

Pierre: Well, we wrote with other people – we wrote with different writers and we worked with a guy called Andrew Goldstein, we worked with Travis, we worked with many other people. But it’s nice to have someone who just… cause I like Travis to writing the song for us, you know? Cause we write and he’s there with us. The idea is, I would say, the lyrics, concepts – always Chuck comes up with that. Then we get melodies and stuff like that.. And it’s just nice to have someone that can help out when I get stuck somewhere, like if I have an idea but I don’t know where to take it. So Travis – he can play guitar, he can play the piano, he can play the drums, he can sing, so… it’s good to have someone that balances it out with more ideas. But I would say the album is Simple Plan, pop-punk, it’s got some heavy songs, some pop songs, it’s got some dark songs, very emotional, very emotional. Our fans are gonna love it. I predict it’s gonna be a fan-favorite.

Another question from the fans is about David. Will he come back on tour with the new album?

Pierre: I think he’s getting there, he’s almost ready.

David pays respect to Green Day in celebration of 25 years since ‘Dookie’

On February 1st 2019, many music fans turned to social media to pay their homage to one of the most important punk rock albums: Green Day’s ‘Dookie’, which was released exactly 25 years ago that day.

Not long after his last Instagram post, David Desrosiers reappeared on social media yesterday again, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of his favorite albums with a very heartfelt post, in which he explained his history with Green Day and how much they have managed to change his life and help his realize his true calling.

Check out what David wrote below:

“25 years ago today this record was about to change my life (and lots of other people’s) and made me realize that all I wanted to do was to play music and sing. Billie Joe Armstrong is the reason why I started singing in my bedroom when I was 13/14 years old.

At that time I was playing guitar and singing in a band that used to cover Green Day’s songs with my high school buddies playing a few shows during lunch break and stuff. I eventually joined Reset and then did a few weeks on the vans warped tour and guess who was one of the headliners on that tour in 2000.

Getting to see them play every day was a dream come true. And then after the first SP record was released we jumped on the Pop Disaster tour as the opening act for a couple weeks. Again it was unreal to be able to see them kill it every night. And I even got to hang with Billie and I straight up told him he was the reason why I sing today and he was such a gentleman. Fast forward a few years later and we were the support band on their Australian American Idiot tour. It was insane and just another dream coming true for me and I felt like was 14 all over again.

Music can keep you young that’s for sure! Of course I had to listen to it earlier today! And so did my neighbours…;-) thank you Tre Cool, Mike Dirnt and Billie Joe Armstrong for being so inspiring for many generations and still counting 25 years later!”

David reappears on social media after a year to express his excitement over next SP album

After almost exactly a year, Simple Plan’s bassist David Desrosiers, who’s been absent on tour for over 2 years now, focusing on his mental health at home in the meantime, reappeared on Instagram yesterday to wish his fans a happy new year.

Besides that, David also confirmed the band’s statement from a few months ago, that he will indeed be joining the rest of his bandmates in the process of creating the next Simple Plan album and he’s already looking forward to the result.

We’re certainly very excited to see David confirm this himself.

Check out what David wrote from his hometown Matane, in Quebec, where he spent his New Year’s, below:

Happy new year to y’all! May all your dreams come true in 2019… Nothing like spending time by the sea in my hometown to reconnect and recharge… Looking forward to a new album…
