Simple Plan confirmed David will be involved in the 6th album recording process

It has been a very long time since the last time David Desrosiers set a foot on a stage with Simple Plan. Due to his problems with depression, he’s been on an indefinite hiatus from the band since May 2017, devoting his time to resting and working on his mental health. However, Simple Plan are just about to embark on another important part of their journey: they are just about to begin the works on their 6th album. Which is why fans have begun speculating, whether David would even be involved in the making of the new Simple Plan album and whether he would take part in the promotion of it later on at all.

Luckily last night, Simple Plan answered the first of these questions through a new Instagram post. Yesterday’s celebration of the World Mental Health Day gave them reason to address this issue head on and give fans an update on David’s current health condition. In the post, it was revealed that (assumingly) on his recent visit of Montreal a few weeks ago, Chuck paid David a visit and was assured by him that David would love to be involved in the recording of Simple Plan’s 6th album. Surely, this comes as a relief to many fans.

Make sure to check out the full new post about David by Simple Plan below:

Today is World Mental Health Day and we simply wanted to let everyone know how much we love and support our friend and bandmate David Desrosiers.

David is still working on overcoming a serious depression that has prevented him from touring and performing with us over the last few years. While we all wish he could be back to feeling 100% immediately, we also have to understand and accept that the path to recovery is a very personal and unpredictable road that doesn’t lend itself to deadlines and touring cycles. And so this is why we have given David all the time he needs to get better and get back to feeling like himself again. We know it’s been difficult and frustrating for some of you to not get more updates or news, and we apologize for that.

We had the chance to see David and talk to him a few weeks ago and he told us how important it was for him to be involved in the recording of our next album. We are extremely excited to have him be a part of Album 6 and can’t wait to hear him play bass on new SP songs!

What are the members of Simple Plan up to in September?

You’ve probably noticed that over the past few weeks, the news around Simple Plan have become slower and slower, as the band members returned to their homes in order to have some downtime and regain strength before the next big important step: the making of album #6.

But what exactly have the boys been up to in the past few weeks besides filming Summertime Dropouts? Let’s see!

Sebastien

While at home, Sebastien tries to divide his time between his family, friends and his hobbies, one of which includes working on music with other artists. As of right now, Sebastien hinted on his Instagram that he’s “got a few things to work on” in his home studio, which could mean he might be working with more artists on their new music, but he could also be working on some Simple Plan-related stuff. And speaking of music-related stuff – earlier this week, Sebastien attended the opening of a new Sennheiser office in Montreal, Canada, in order to support the brand that has been supporting Simple Plan with their audio gear for a very long-time.

Besides Seb’s music, we could hopefully also expect season 27 of his and Patrick’s Idobi radio show Man Of The Hour to grace the internet radio waves with its presence soon, so we’re sure there will be a lot more Sebastien-related news coming soon.

Jeff

For the past few weeks, Jeff Stinco has been very active on Instagram, where he started a “100 days of practice” challenge. In it, Jeff aims to practice his guitar-playing skills every day for a 100 days, while sharing some of his best videos on social media. Make sure to follow his Instagram to watch these videos, which include compositions such as Pink Floyd’s ‘Is There Anybody Out There’ or John Mayer’s ‘Slow Dancing In A Burning Room’ – definitely worth checking out!

Other than that, Jeff has stated that he’s been enjoying the last days of summer at his lake house, where he likes to spend most of his time playing with power tools and stacking wood for the winter.

Pierre and Chuck

Both Pierre and Chuck have been mostly silent on social media recently about their current going-ons. We can imagine that both of them are trying to make up for all the time spend on the road far away from their families by actually being present and enjoying their children while they can.

It shouldn’t take long and hopefully very soon we should finally hear the first news about this song-writing duo getting back together, as they should be just about to start working on new Simple Plan songs – because after all, that is where the beginnings of any Simple Plan album creating process always start – with these two in one room, discussing music, lyrics and ideas.

David

It’d be impossible to write a piece on the members of Simple Plan and not include David, as despite his absence on tour for over a year now, due to his struggles with depression, he’s still a member of Simple Plan. Currently there are no news available to us regarding David’s situation, but we sincerely hope that he is using this time off to get better and regain all the strength he will need whenever he rejoins the band on stage again in the future.

Happy birthday, David!

Precisely on this day, August 29th 1980, Simple Plan’s bassist David Desrosiers, was born in Sept-Iles, Québec, Canada, which means that Simple Plan’s bassist celebrates his 38th birthday today! On behalf of SimplePlan.cz we would like to wish him all the best, lots of love, support, happiness – and most importantly strength. We all miss you very much and absolutely cannot wait to see you healthy and in full strength back on stage with your bandmates. You will always have our support.

Happy birthday, David!

(Don’t forget to leave David a message in the comments on his Instagram, wishing him happy birthday!)

Simple Plan gave fans an update regarding their bassist David Desrosiers

For over a year now, Simple Plan’s bass player David Desrosiers has not been touring with his band after his last year’s announcement that he need to take a bit of a time off to focus on his mental health and to fight depression. Since then, with David’s blessing, Simple Plan have been touring as a foursome (Chuck, Seb, Jeff and Pierre), while their friend David was at home trying to get better.

Luckily, the Simple Plan fans have been very compassionate in this situation and showed enormous support to David and the band overall in their time of need. Yesterday, Simple Plan decided to talk about this situation again on their Instagram and gave the fans some update on how David’s doing and showed their appreciation of their fans’ compassion.

Check out the full post by Simple Plan about David’s future involvement in the band’s activities below:

We want to thank all our fans around the world who have been supporting David over the last year and a half while he’s been battling with depression. Whether you’ve been holding up signs at the shows, writing him letters or posting comments here on Instagram or on our other social media accounts, please know that David and us truly appreciate your concern and words of encouragement.

A lot of you have been asking us to post an update on how David is doing and when he will be joining us on tour again.

The truth is, we don’t know exactly when he will be ready to come back and play shows with us. David is still at home resting and trying to get better. Mental health and recovery is a long and complicated process and the last thing we want is to put any pressure on David or rush him to come back when he’s not healthy enough. We wish we had more news to share, but as of now, our only goal is trying to support David and give him the space and time he needs to get better. We ask that you keep on showing him love and compassion in this difficult time. With his blessing, we will keep on performing shows as a 4-piece until he’s able to join us and perform again.

Thank you all for understanding and for being the best fans a band could ever ask for.

Sao Paulo: Chuck’s new drumkit design & sign surprise & on-stage marriage proposal

Simple Plan’s tour across Brazil continues and last night the band dropped by the city of Sao Paulo, where they were looking forward to greeting all 3000 fans who have managed to sell out the Audio venue.

And they were in for a night full of surprises! Firstly, some fans might have noticed that Chuck didn’t use his regular No Pads transparent bass drum head, but instead kicked the show off with a new simple ‘SP’ on a black background [see the picture above] on his bass drum head (thanks Bruno for the info). Will he keep it for the rest of the tour? We’ll see!

As far as the show itself concerns, the fans surprised the band with a bunch of ‘David is here’ signs during Addicted to show their support of the band’s bass player, who currently remains home, where he’s doing his best at battling depression.

And finally, during the intermission between Boom! and Jet Lag in the encore part of the concert, Pierre invited a fan on stage, who got on his knee to propose to his girlfriend. Surrounded by loud emotional cheers and applause, the couple became another pair, who got engaged on a Simple Plan stage. Check out the cute moment on the video captured by SP:BR below:

After these exhausting three shows in Brazil, the members of Simple Plan can now rest for two days before their next gig, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro on Wednesday. In the meantime, check out all of the new pictures from last night’s show in Sao Paulo, Brazil:
