Chuck reveals new info about upcoming Simple Plan album in a Twitter Q&A

Earlier today, Chuck held a spontaneous Q&A session on Twitter with his fans, and managed to answer a couple of their questions with some really interesting answers. If you want to read all Chuck’s replies, visit his Twitter page – in this article I offer you a recap of most interesting ones and most importantly – the most relevant ones for the next Simple Plan album and the following tour:

ALBUM TITLE
– the band doesn’t currently have any title for the album, as the album titles are usually the last thing they come up with

RELEASE DATE
– as of right now, the band hopes to release the album in the summer

SONGS
– Chuck and Pierre have written about 65 songs so far
– when asked what the stylistic direction of the album is, Chuck answered simply: “Style.”
– according to Chuck, the goal is to make the fans’ new favorite album: “Something I will love more than any records we made before.”
– the whole band is very eager to start recording
– how satisfied is Chuck with the written songs? “Very much so. But we need a few more special ones. The reality of being an artist is that you’re never 100% satisfied.”
best part about the recording process: “Seeing the songs come to life and sounding even better than you envisioned in your head.”
favorite SP song: “The new ones we are writing.”
– we can expect lots of vlogs from the recording studio

TOUR
– Chuck also mentioned that they would like to return to Europe in the summer

BAND
most proud of? “That the band is still relevant after 15 years and they are still best friends.”

Simple Plan address critisism of their French communication on Twitter

Yesterday, Journal de Montreal’s journalist Sophie Durocher wrote an article on her blog on the online newspaper’s website entitled “Simple Plan killing the French language”. In this article, Durocher criticised the Canadian band for a tweet that was sent from the official account (@simpleplan) on Saturday, which included a message – in French – iniviting fans to buy tickets for the Foundation event. It wasn’t the message itself that outraged the reporter, it was the grammar, which included a few discrepancies. Durocher argued that the band doesn’t care enough for their “1% of French” tweets.

This caused a series of tweets from both Chuck Comeau and Jeff Stinco apologizing for the grammatic errors in the tweet (which has since been deleted), mentioning the tweet hadn’t been written by them, but by one of the employees of their management, who didn’t know the language perfectly. Read Jeff’s and Chuck’s statements below:

“On behalf of SP, I assure you it will not happen again. We all share a great love for the French language.” – Jeff Stinco

“It’s been a few days since the official Simple Plan account published a message containing several unacceptable faults in the French language. An employee of our management company, who obviously did not master the language, took the unfortunate initiative to send this message without consulting us. We’re really sorry. It will not happen again. I think everyone knows that we are proud to be from the province of Quebec and to speak French.” – Chuck Comeau

Jeff and Chuck today on BT Toronto

The members of Simple Plan are already in Toronto, Canada, where they will be performing an exclusive free acoustic show sponsored by Kiehl’s Canada. The show will be streamed live tonight – from 8pm EST (for most Europeans (GMT+1), that is 2am of the next day), so don’t forget to sign up here and before the stream starts, you will receive an email with a link to the live-stream. 1 dollar per each view will be donated to the Simple Plan Foundation from Kiehl’s, so make sure you watch the show – it’s for a good cause! I will update Facebook and Twitter with the link also, as soon as the stream starts.

And this performance and their partnership with Kiehl’s was exactly the reason why Chuck and Jeff had to get up a little early today to be present in the BT Toronto studios. The videos from their appearance at BT Toronto should be available later and until then, here’s a few pictures of Chuck and Jeff from this morning:

Update: City TV uploaded the first video that features a short part of the interview with Chuck and Jeff. Check it out:
