Simple Plan continue with their second week in the studio, where they are recording their fifth album and according to the band members things are going really well! Pierre even started laying down some vocals this week.

First week of recording the new Simple Plan album is behind us and with great results! With the help of their new producer, Howard Benson, the boys managed to record drums on all the tracks and guitars and bass on five of them and Pierre and Chuck also did some song-writing with Bobby Bazini in the meantime. Simple Plan were also accompanied in the studio by at least two photographers: Brandon Sloter and their old friend Chady Awad.

(Note: For practical purposes I decided not to divide each recording day into a seperate album in the gallery anymore so from now on all studio pictures will be put into this one. However I will keep using the pictures’ descriptions to keep track of which day each picture was taken.)
Even though they are already in the studio, Pierre and Chuck took some time yesterday to do a little bit of song-writing with a Juno-nominated singer-songwriter from Canada, Bobby Bazini.

If you’ve been following Simple Plan for a while you may recall that for each album, Simple Plan have always kept a “progress board” on which they keep track of the progress of each of the songs they plan to record – that includes drums, guitars, bass, vocals, mixing etc. Have a look at this vlog from 2007 which explains it a bit more (for SP’s third record).
Today, Jeff posted a picture of the progress board for album #5 which revealed that first parts of the drums have already been recorded and Seb, Jeff and David also did their part on the first two songs. Another thing we can tell from the picture is the record should include 11 songs (as per usual) and we can also start guessing some of the song-titles! From what you can see on the picture, what do you think the songs could be called?
According to the the guys’ updates on Instagram, Simple Plan have already finished 4 days of recording their new album. Yesterday it was all about Seb’s and Jeff’s guitars and David’s bass.
