Halloween: Simple Plan style

It’s October 31st – that means it’s Halloween time! The guys from Simple Plan (after one day off) are playing another show of their Get Your Heart On! tour today in Pomona, California – and they are asking all the fans who will be attending to show to dress up for the event – because after all, it’s Halloween! And it will not be only the fans who will (hopefully) dress up – the band has apparently plans to do it as well! According to Sebastien: “If you put a costume on for the show tonight, i’ll do it too!”

However this is not the first ever Halloween Simple Plan show – back in 2008, the band was touring Europe during the end of October – and played a special Halloween show in Stockholm, Sweden. You may remember David and Chuck dressing up for the event (check the photo on top right). Also in the past few years we also had the chance to see some photos of Pierre in a Halloween costume (top middle photo) and also Sebastien and Patrick (top left photo). This year’s Simple Plan costumes are still unknown but I’m pretty sure we will find out in a matter of hours.

In the meantime, you can check out these amazing creations of Simple Plan fans, who managed to carve pumpkins in a Simple Plan style. (thanks Freda, Eva and Jessica!):

Simple Plan back in the US: first update from the GYHO tour

Simple Plan kicked off their long-awaited US tour two days ago in style – particularly in Los Angeles, California. The guys hit the tour along with the bands The Cab, Marianas Trench and Forever The Sickest Kids and even invited some of the members to their webchat on Friday. Unfortunately they somehow forgot to record the webchat this time, so if you weren’t up when it was live, i’m really sorry…

Anyway! The guys enjoyed the evening quite a lot – Chuck just got a new set of drums, so he took his first chance to try them out on the LA show. If you’re curious what it looked like on the first US show, make sure to check out these photos from Friday night and also the video below, which beautifully captures the atmosphere during You Suck At Love:

Simple Plan in Alternative Press: Last Ones Standing

Simple Plan have appeared in the December issue of the Alternative Press magazine. There is a new photoshoot of the band by Jocelyn Michel and also an article with a very to-the-point title: “Last Ones Standing”. I definitely reccommend reading through the whole article, as you will learn more about Simple Plan’s position in the United States, mostly about the before-and-after of the self-titled album, which made Simple Plan stop touring in the US and how it all changed when the band decided to come back on last year’s Bamboozle Roadshow.

Here are a little excerpts from the article:

“We’ve got so much left to accomplish. We’re nowhere near being done. We’ve never had one line-up change. The spirit of the band is the five of us. The sum of the parts is greater than each of us individually. We’re better together… That sounds like a Spice Girls song.” – Chuck Comeau

“I feel a very genuine vibe from them. They’re just in it to have a good time. There are definitely bands that came up with them that took themselves too seriously. I think once you do that, you start making records that aren’t you. Simple Plan were never bitter about new bands coming up and trying to take what they had. Nothing ever threw them off.” – Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low) on Simple Plan

The scans from the magazine can be already found in the gallery (thanks to SPB.com):

David and Patrick on Avril Lavigne/The New Cities show in Montreal

Simple Plan’s friendship with a fellow Canadian Avril Lavigne is definitely a proof that friendships can last for many many years. Back in 2003 Avril took them to her “Try To Shut Me Up Tour”, where mostly David and her turned into really big friends (you may remember the scenes from A Big Packag For You DVD, where Avril carries David to the stage because he hurt his leg after some too risky skateboarding, or the scenes from Avril’s DVD, where they ended up together in a closet etc.). And mostly because of all these little things, many rumours started in the past about a possible “more-than-friends” status between these two. Nothing has ever been confirmed.

After eight years we finally have a new picture of David and Avril together because David attended Avril’s show in Montreal last night. The show was the last of her Canadian tour with The New Cities. And of course it wouldn’t be David if he didn’t take this opportunity to play with The New Cities on drums during the song Looks Minus Substance. It’s pretty funny that in one of the reviews from last night, the author had mistaken David for “Simple Plan’s drummer” and wrote that it was in fact Chuck, who played drums with The New Cities. :)

And it was not only David who spent some time with Avril yesterday – she also made some time for Patrick, who has been working in MusiquePlus for the past three years as a video journalist. Apparantly Avril even demanded that it was him, who would be interviewing her. The two also have many common memories from the 2003 tour, back from when Patrick used to work for Simple Plan.
