Simple Plan Foundation’s benefit concert raises $300 000!

This year’s Simple Plan Foundation’s benefit event has been a great success. First, on the press conference in the afternoon, the band presented the donations for this year: the total of $220 000 will be split between 24 organisations (in comparison to last year’s donations ($185 000), SPF donated a lot more this year).

The benefit event itself started at 4pm when the doors opened to the visitors/audience, who bought the tickets for this special occasion. The money raised from the full price of the tickets and also from the silent auction will go to the Simple Plan Foundation and will be used in next year’s donations. In total, Simple Plan Foundation has raised over $300 000 last night. After the doors opened, the members of Simple Plan have mingled among the 2000 guests to chat, sign and take pictures.

The most important part of the evening, though, was still to come. Simple Plan and the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra (consisted of 92 players) have performed a very special reendition of 15 Simple Plan songs in the course of a 2-hours-long concert. The songs included: Shut Up, Addicted, Welcome To My Life, Summer Paradise, Astronaut, Jet Lag (with Marie-Mai), I’m Just A Kid, One, Your Love Is A Lie, ending with This Song Saved My Life. Jeff Stinco said about this experience: “Tonight, playing with the Montreal Symphony orchestra was the highlight of my career.”.

The whole show has been recorded and according to the press should be soon broadcast on ARTV and Télé-Quebec.

You can check out the first photos from the event in thegallery and also below you can watch a spectacular video showing the song Astronaut performed by Simple Plan and the Montreal Symphonic Orchestra:

“Astronaut” music video premiere just around the corner – September 19th

It looks like September 19th will be like Christmas for all Simple Plan fans: we already know that we’ll finally get the tourdates for both: the Canadian and the US tour and now, as a cherry on top of all that: we’ll finally get the world premiere of the “Astronaut” music video!

To make us even more excited, the guys decided to release a set of 14 pictures from behind the scenes of Astronaut. If you remember, in the interview for SimplePlan.cz the guys confimed there will be a subtle reference to Patrick Langlois in this music video… can you already spot it on the photos? :)

With the premiere of Astronaut being just around the corner, let’s sum up everything we already know about this music video:

“Astronaut” is the second single and at the same time the third music video from Simple Plan’s new album “Get Your Heart On!”. The director is Mark Staubach, who also directed the first GYHO! videoclip: “Can’t Keep My Hands Off You”. The shoot took place in a desert in the US and the actress/model Caitlin O’Connor was hired to portray one of the astronauts. According to Chuck this music video has probably the longest (around 45 seconds long) intro that Simple Plan has ever had in a music video and therefore the band considers it to be more like a mini-movie.

We’ll see how it all worked out this coming Monday, on September 19th.

Simple Plan reveal themselves for a good cause like never before

I ask you not to faint. Simple Plan have been announced as one of the seventeen personalities, who take part of this year’s campaign of a charitable organisation called Centraide. The theme of the campaign (that will be running until December 13th) is “We help each other because underneath, we’re all the same.”.

Yes, you heard right: the purpose of the campaign is to show personalities in their simpliest form – without clothes, in order to show that human beings are all the same: they are all beautiful, but also vulnerable, regardless of age, origin or social status. And by exposing themselves in this vulnerable position, they recall all the important challenges that poor people have to face every day.

Apart from Simple Plan, the other celebrities who took part in this campaign are for example Isabelle Boulay, Caroline Dhavernas, Laurence Leboeuf, Luc Picard, Joannie Rochette, Guylaine Tremblay or Annie Villeneuve.

And without further ado: below you can check out a very HQ picture from this campaign, that shows all the 5 members of Simple Plan… in their naked glory:

The ending of 2011’s European tour

This year’s European tour, that had to be due to Pierre’s medical condition shortened to only a couple of weeks, is already over. Simple Plan played their last show in Europe yesterday in Ghent, Belgium, then drove back to London, where they finally hopped on a plane back home. I had the opportunity to talk to the guys during last weekend and convince them to finally publish the photo that was taken on stage in Prague, Czech Republic because of all the “Thank you” signs the Czech fans prepared for the band. And finally yesterday Pierre posted this picture (but I have a feeling Sim had something to do with it too :)) on the official website. You can check out the beauty of fans’ love below:

I have also brought you a lot of pictures from Germany: from the soundchecks and also from the concerts in Stuttgart and Frankfurt. All the photos can be found in the gallery:

Out of everything that has happened in Germany, there is one moment definitely worth mentioning: during the show in Frankfurt 3 girls in total passed out (which is a pretty huge number for the fact that the club held only 400 fans) – although with one of the girls, the security had a lot of trouble to get her out of the crowd. Jeff Stinco after noticing what’s happening, immediately dropped his guitar, jumped down from the stage and like a hero carried this girl out of the crowd… receiving a huge applause from everyone in the club afterwards. :)

Even though the guys will not be returning to Europe this year because of their very busy schedule (having shows all over Australia and South and North America this fall and winter) – have no worries European fans: the guys will be back for an almost 2-months-long European tour, starting in March 2012. And that is just around the corner, isn’t it? :)

What we’ve missed in the last couple of days…

Since the whole Prague craze is finally behind us, let’s get back to some other news not directly connected to Prague. The guys have visited Poland a couple days ago and recorded another vlog, where they’re talking about the most recent news in the SP world. Check it out below:

So it’s clear that it’s been confirmed that Simple Plan really are coming back to Brazil. The band will be performing at the SWU festival on November 14th in Sao Paolo.

Also I’ve received some more news from Poland: apparently Simple Plan are already planning another European tour (mostly to make it up to all the fans who’s shows have been cancelled due to Pierre’s medical condition): the tour should be 7 weeks long and should happen somewhere around February and March 2012. Also, both Poland and the Czech Republic should be among the countries SP plan to visit again. This information is not official, there are no official dates confirmed.

And a little cherry on top of the great news: here are the first pictures from today, when Simple Plan performed (just like last year) on the I-Day Festival in Bologna, Italy. The photos are from backstage and also from the meet&greet with fans:
