Pierre sings on a song for Haiti

Today we have some pretty awesome Twitter news for you guys. The most important news of the day is probably the one about Pierre announcing on his Twitter that he is in the studio singing on a song for Haiti charity. There is currently no more info about that song but it means we should be able to check out a new song including Pierre’s vocals soon!

And speaking of Twitter, there are few new pictures from the SP guys – particularly from Pierre’s, Chuck’s, Sebastien’s and Patrick’s Twitter profiles. You can already check them out in our gallery (which is by the way being updated every day and we will soon have all the photos back):

Simple Plan at the Winter Olympics celebrations!

On Saturday, February 13th, Simple Plan attended the first day of the opening celebrations for the Winter Olympic Games in Canada – particularly in the city of Calgary they played a free open-air concert.

As it’s still February, plus it’s Canada, you can imagine how cold it must have been during the show. The guys had to play in gloves, warm jackets and hats.

The Calgary Herald published an article about this show, quoting the SP members’ mentions about the cold weather:

“I know it’s cold up here, but if we all jump together it’s going to be a lot warmer!,” said Pierre Bouvier of Montreal pop-punk band Simple Plan during his band’s headlining set for the Winter Olympics Celebration at Olympic Plaza. “Do you guys feel me?”

“I feel like my tongue is frozen,” joked Bouvier at one point. “Don’t lick the microphone,” quipped one of his bandmates. “Your tongue will stick.”

In the gallery you can already check out pictures from the event:

Also, a video of the Simple Plan’s equipment for this show appeared on YouTube, so now you can check it out how all the stuff looks like:

And here is one video from the show itself – it’s a segment of Welcome To My Life:

Pierre and Chuck on the launch of Assassin’s Creed II

In the last couple of months, Pierre and Chuck have spent most of the time in California writing songs for the upcoming Simple Plan album and updating us through their tweets on how amazing songs they have already written and letting us know that the new album is going to be “insane”. But of course in a place like California, you can’t just lock yourself up in your place, so naturally the guys have also been attending some events in LA.

Few months ago, particularly on November 11th 2009 Pierre and Chuck appeared on the launch of the new videogame called Assassin’s Creed II, which was hosted by the Maxim magazine and the french videogames publisher Ubisoft. Apart from SP, also lots of celebrities including Kristen Bell or Jessica Szohr attended the event. You can check out the photos of the guys in our gallery:

Simple Plan pledges $10 000 for Haiti!

If you were following our Twitter or Facebook profile at about 7pm EST (12pm GMT) yesterday, then you found there links to watch the Canada For Haiti show live. Many canadian celebrities, Simple Plan including, attended this telethon in order to make people donate money for the victims of the earthquake on Haiti.

Even though we didn’t expect anyone but Sebastien, David and Jeff, who confirmed their appereance, Pierre and Chuck appeared there at least in a video, where celebrities asked people to donate for this good cause. You can check out the video right here:

Apparently, thanks to this canadian telethon, more than 9 million dollars were donated through Canada For Haiti! Plus, Prime Minister Stephen Harper promised during a taped message that the donated money would be matched, dollar for dollar, by the federal government – which means more than 18 million dollars will go to Haiti from Canada. Right after this programme, a much bigger telethon – Hope For Haiti – aired from New York, Los Angeles and London, including performances and appereances of famous celebrities.

David, Jeff a Sebastien attended personally one of the other events that followed Canada For Haiti, particularly Ensemble Pour Haiti, where they made a donation of $10 000 dollars through the Simple Plan Foundation to support Haiti. Thanks to Sab you can check out the video from Ensemble Pour Haiti right here with english subtitles:

Below you can check out few photos from their appereance on Ensemble Pour Haiti in our gallery.*

* As you may have noticed, our gallery suddenly deleted itself, which means we had to make a step to start building a new one. This time it’s located directly on our website, the design is still the same, the only difference is that we have to fill it up with the lost 18 000 photos again. Pictures will be uploaded to it from now on and let’s just hope it will be back to its former size again soon.

Canada For Haiti

Source: Newswire.ca

I guess there isn’t a lot of you among us, who haven’t heard yet about the earthquake in Haiti, which about a week ago destroyed the capital city Port-au-Prince and the surrounding area and caused the death of hundreds of thousands. Benefit events for Haiti are since then being held all over the world and one of them will take place in Canada tomorrow.

The commercial-free broadcast called “Canada For Haiti”, which will be aired at 7pm EST (that’s 12pm GMT) on January 22nd collaboratively on CBC, CTV and Global Television, will feature lots of popular canadian celebrities. For instance director James Cameron, actors Eugene Levy, Joshua Jackson, Pamela Anderson, Rachelle Lefevre, Ryan Reynolds or musicians Justin Bieber, Nelly Furtado, Celine Dion and also Simple Plan!

Yes, this live broadcast will be attended by the members of Simple Plan, who will be in Canada at that time – which meanstedy Jeff Stinco, David Desrosiers and Sebastien Lefebvre (as Pierre and Chuck are currently in Los Angeles, USA, writing lyrics for the new album). David and Sebastien confirmed their attendance (and also Jeff’s) today live at CBC (here is a screencap).

The raised money from this telethon will be equally distributed into the 10 biggest canadian non-governmental organisations – including World Vision Canada, Canadian Red Cross Society, UNICEF Canada, Oxfam Canada and Save the Children Canada and all the profits will go through them to help Haiti.

CBC.ca, CTV.ca, GlobalTV.com and MuchMusic.com will also stream the programme live tomorrow.
