David Desrosiers participates in the “Chaîne de forces” campaign

In 2013 a very interesting project started in the area of Matane, a city located in the provice of Quebec, Canada, called “Chaîne de forces” (“A Chain of Strength”) in which a parchment of words encouraging strength and positivity in life is being handed from one person to another, while each of them is adding more of his own advice and words of encouragement.

In this year’s edition of “Chaîne de forces”, David Desrosiers from Simple Plan, who is originally from Matane, was chosen to start the chain off with a video message, in which he symbolically handed over the parchment to the first recipient – Dennis Angers – a teacher at Polyvalente De Matane, David’s former high school.

You can see the video of David’s message by clicking on the image below, and if you’re not fluent in French, there is also an English translation of David’s message here under the video (thanks to Sab):

“Hello, I’m David!

I’m honored to start the “Forces en nous” (Strengths in us) chain. We all have strengths, we all have weaknesses as well. But it’s important to focus on the positive, on the strengths that everyone has, our good qualities.

I’d like to pass the first parchment to Dennis Angers because I think his force is the way he is able to captivate people, how he can make people listening to him and not thinking at anything else when he is telling a story. I think that it is an amazing strength. So, Dennis, I pass you the first parchment and it’s a big honor to start this chain.”

Arnold Lanni on Simple Plan: “I don’t know if I know a band that worked harder than Simple Plan!”

A very interesting new interview has recently been conducted with Arnold Lanni, Canadian musician and producer, who the Simple Plan fans may recall as the producer of Simple Plan’s debut album – “No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls”. A part of this interview is devoted to his times of producing this particular Simple Plan record and the hardship that it has brought upon him and the band (if you want to know more about these times – I definitely recommend to read the Simple Plan book – “Simple Plan: The Official Story” – p.66 and onwards).

You can check out the part where Arnold Lanni talks about Simple Plan in this interview at mark 5:24, or read the transcript below:

I don’t know if I know a band that worked harder than Simple Plan. They were so eager to do whatever it is we were gonna do that it was infectious.

It got a little bit crazy at the end of making that first record because when someone’s young, they’re filled with piss and vinegar. They had their vision, they had to go-go-go. That’s an amazing quality. But you can’t always be right – especially when you’re young, of course. And there’s no way you can explain it to someone. They have to live through it. And I think what happened with Simple Plan is – they were young, in a sort of grown-up world. They knew that I loved them and just wanted the best for them.

Looking back, maybe I should’ve been more, you know, understanding, that they were just young. You know, when you’re in the heat of making a record, it’s kind of like making a fire – you gotta rub two things fearlessly to get a spark.” – Arnold Lanni

Josh Ramsay (Marianas Trench) gives away guitar previously intended for the Simple Plan Foundation

About a year ago, the lead singer of the Canadian band Marianas Trench, Josh Ramsay, was asked by Simple Plan’s drummer Chuck Comeau to donate a signed guitar for the Simple Plan Foundation, which would mostly probably be later used as one of the items auctioned off at the annual Simple Plan Foundation benefit event. However, Josh being Josh – he forgot to eventually send Simple Plan the signed guitar, so a year later, still having it lying around, he decided to just give it away to one of their fans – whoever would find him first. At least it ended up it the right – fan’s – hands :)

Check out the video of this little scavenger hunt that Josh did in the streets of Vancouver on March 2nd, in which he gave away this guitar to one lucky fan:

Ubisoft Canada has released a brand new video from Jeff’s and Sebastien’s visit of the Garage à musique project in Montreal last week, where they donated $10 000 on behalf of Ubisoft and the Simple Plan Foundation. Check it out:
