Jeff’s speech at Garage à musique

As I’ve informed you a few days ago, Jeff and Seb from Simple Plan visited Garage à musique on Thursday and on behalf of their Foundation and Ubisoft, donated $10 000 to the project.

Below you can now check out a brand new video from Canoe.ca which features a part of the speech Jeff had at Garage à musique – and thanks to Sab, who translated it from French for SimplePlan.cz, you can read the English translation below the video:

“I was your age, I was about 15-16 years old. We started a band, we played in Mr. Comeau’s basement. He’s over here (*Mr. Comeau is waving*)! He endured us for so long. And he fed us!

It’s a dream, obviously. I was playing classical music back then. I was in high school and I was at the classical music academy. I thought I would teach it, later on. I love to teach, it’s something I’m passionate about. But my life took a different turn.

My hobby was Simple Plan, even if we weren’t called Simple Plan back then, we wrote songs together, some members left, some came back. Sebastien, Chuck and I were the band at the time. As we were writing songs we contacted Pierre, our singer, who was in another band at that time.

When we had signed our contract, we thought that was it. But it was really just the starting line. It gives you the opportunity to begin a career. We didn’t dare to say we were able to go international, but we thought that if we were able to do the Warped Tour on the main stage, we would have accomplished something. If we could tour in the US, it would be cool. Europe was the dream. Eventually, we ended up touring all over the world.

Sometimes we would slept on the floor of the airport because it was the only moment we could really sleep. That’s the “work part”, the not-fun-part.

To be honest, it’s like when we release an album, we’re super excited to go and speak about it for 2 weeks, then we’ll just repeat the same things over and over again and it becomes tiresome.” – Jeff Stinco

I also updated the gallery with 4 more pictures from this event. Check them out here:

VIDEO: Sebastien receives new Framus guitar

As announced earlier this year, Framus has been working on a brand new custom guitar for Sebastien in the “sea foam green” color. After a couple weeks of waiting Sebastien has finally received his new guitar today and shared a video on Instagram from unboxing this beauty. Check it out:

Jeff and Seb attend a bullying prevention symposium

Around 200 stakeholders took part in the “Social Emotional Learning & Bullying Prevention symposium”, held by the Peace Grantmakers Network yesterday in Montreal. The goal of this symposium was to discuss the crucial problem of bullying and try to find solutions to eliminate it.

As the Simple Plan Foundation is one of the donators of the Peace Grantmakers Network and one of its goals is also to stop bullying, two members of Simple Plan – Jeff Stinco and Sebastien Lefebvre – were also among the attendees of the event yesterday.

“There have been cases of quite tragic admirers of ours, who have had big problems with bullying, who have suffered a lot of violence at school, and we talk quite openly about this problem. So, instead of staying silent, we try to stand up and just go and help them in some way.” – Jeff Stinco [source: canoe.ca]

Japanese version of Simple Plan’s new EP features a full booklet

A couple weeks ago, we’ve learned that the Japanese fans will be getting a special version of the newly released EP by Simple Plan – “Get Your Heart On – The Second Coming!” which features two bonus tracks – live versions of “Astronaut” and “Loser Of The Year”.

One fan from Japan has now released a video (thanks CSP for finding it) documenting the whole packaging of the Japanese edition of this EP which shows that unlike the regular version that features only a one-page cover – the Japanese version includes a full booklet that also features the lyrics and additional info. Check out the video below:

VIDEO: Pierre and David sing Friends’ theme song with Jenna McDougall (Tonight Alive)

Channel V recently aired a documentary series called “Road Trippin'” with a special all about Warped Tour Australia that took place in 6 Australian cities in November and December of 2013, featuring bands like The Offspring, Simple Plan or Tonight Alive. Jenna McDougall, the lead singer of Tonight Alive actually co-hosted the documentary/special with Channel V’s presenter Danny Clayton – and during the half an hour video she shows him around places in between two of the festival dates and also introduces him to some bands she’s already befriended on Warped Tour.

Two of these people were David and Pierre from Simple Plan, who you can check out at mark 14:32 of the video, who’s interview backstage with Danny Clayton eventually turned out to be a Friends’ theme song sing-a-long. Check it out:
