Believe it or not but Simple Plan’s second studio album is celebrating 9 years since it’s release today! The album came out on October 26th 2004 and was produced by Bob Rock.

“Still Not Getting Any” has been one of the most successful albums by Simple Plan – debuted at the US Billboard charts at no.3 with over 130 000 copies sold within the first week. Among the many brilliant songs that this album featured, it brought us singles like “Shut Up!”, “Welcome To My Life”, “Crazy” and “Untitled”.

Making of the 5th Simple Plan album: 2 songs already written

While we keep on getting short updates on how the recording of the Simple Plan EP is coming, I am sure most of you are also just as anxious to hear how the guys are doing with their next upcoming project – their 5th studio album. In the recent interview Chuck Comeau did regarding the just announced Perth show for Music Feeds, he admitted that him and Pierre have already started working on the lyrics 2 weeks ago and that they already manage to get 2 done.

Check out an excerpt for the interview and you can also listen to the whole podcast in an audio form below:

Music Feeds: “How far into the process [of making the 5th album] are you guys?”

Chuck: “Honestly, we just started last week* so we probably did 2 songs last week and we’re just sort of getting the rust off and just getting into it. It’s really fun. We toured for a year and half, 2 years on the last record, so we’re definitely excited to come up with new songs. The tour was great and I think it made us very motivated and pumped-up to make our 5th record. We’re very stoked and blessed that we’re still here, still playing music and still have a bunch of fans, so it’s exciting. It gets us really stoked to keep it up.”

* interview was recorded last Thursday, which means Pierre and Chuck have been working on the songs for about 2 weeks now

VIDEO: Press conference at MTV World Stage

When Simple Plan performed in Monterrey, Mexico at the MTV World Stage event 2 weeks ago, they also attended a press conference which hasn’t been available in a video form anywhere – until now (thanks a lot SP Mexico for the link)! Check out the video below to see some of Simple Plan’s answer to the journalists’ questions, where Simple Plan discuss the new EP (coming in “1 or 2 months”), next album (coming “probably in 2014” – but don’t hold your breath just yet, it’s still very far away, so it’s hard to determine the exact release date – most likely it will be released in early 2015), live DVD, influences and Mexican food:

Tonight Alive: “A Big Package For You was one of the main band DVDs we’d watch!”

Tonight Alive is a young Australian band that toured with Simple Plan on their tour Down Under in the fall of 2011, where the band’s lead singer Jenna McDougall even performed “Jet Lag” with Simple Plan every day and also at some radio appearances acoustically.

In one of the recently posted videos by Tonight Alive – which is a part of the Vevo Lift series – the members of this Australian band talk about their musical influences and once again name Simple Plan as one of the greatest ones.

Check out what Tonight Alive have said about Simple Plan:

“If we had like a band practice and we finished band practice and still had an afternoon to go, we’d like all sit down and watch a band DVD.” – Jake Hardy

“One of the main ones we used to watch was Simple Plan’s first DVD. It’s called A Big Package For You and it was pretty much a chronicle of the two years they spent from like recording their first album – they went from an absolutely unknown band to just touring the whole world. I guess for us, we would just sit there, watch that and be like: ‘That’s awesome! We wanna go there and we wanna do that!'” – Cam Adler

“I think we’ve worked with like a bunch of artists that have had like a major influence on us when we were growing up – like Simple Plan. When we were touring with them, they were exactly like what they were like on the DVD. Like just the most down-to-earth dudes.” – Jake Hardy

“To be able to support them on the tour in Australia was such an honor, to meet them, to shake their hands. And I think we took a lot away from that tour, even though it was very short. I guess it was just easy to see why they’ve gotten so far.” – Jenna McDougall
