Video: In Their Shoes project

As you know already, Simple Plan are a part of the In Their Shoes project, to which various musicians designed a pair of white Converse shoes for. The organisers of the project have now released an advertising video in which (among other designs) you can clearly see the Simple Plan Converse shoes (thanks to Laura for letting me know).

Simple Plan on MTV World Stage

Yesterday evening, Simple Plan had the honour to perform at this year’s edition of MTV World Stage in Monterrey, Mexico – an event that attracted almost 10 000 fans (that have won the tickets for free) – with a line-up that consisted of Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan and a local Mexican band Zoe.

In the afternoon before the show, Simple Plan attended a press conference from which you can already check out a large number of pictures here:

Also before the show, Simple Plan decided to ask Fall Out Boy to sign a guitar that will be auctioned off at the upcoming annual Simple Plan Foundation benefit show which they did. According to Chuck, more details about it will be announced next week. Here’s more pictures of Simple Plan backstage at MTV World Stage and also some first pictures (with more to come during today) from their performance:

The setlist looked as follows:

1. Shut Up
2. Can’t Keep My Hands Off You
3. Jump
4. When I’m Gone
5. You Suck At Love
6. Jet Lag
7. Summer Paradise
8. Welcome To My Life
9. Anything
10. Perfect

And finally, since we didn’t have much live footage of SP in the past few weeks, here’s the final song of Simple Plan’s setlist – Perfect – on MTV World Stage on video:

Chuck and Pierre playing golf in Mexico

To kill some time this morning, Chuck and Pierre decided to drive a few miles from Monterrey to play golf at one of the local golf courses in Mexico. There, both of the guys filmed short videomessages for the Nuevo Leon tourism website along with a little demonstration of their golfing abilities. See them here:

And finally here is a picture of the guys together at the golf course today:

MTV World Stage set to air on MTV at the end of October

Simple Plan are currently in Monterrey, Mexico where they will be playing a show for about 9000 people later tonight along with Zoe and Fall Out Boy as a part of the MTV World Stage event. According to vicepresident of MTV Latin America – Fernando Bastón – more than 40 tons of equipment has been used in the production of this event and also more technology that it has been used in the previous editions.

As announced earlier, the whole show will be filmed and will air on MTV channels all around the world. It has been confirmed now that the special will premiere on MTV on October 25th 2013 for Latin America and for the rest of the world on November 8th (thanks Carlos, Revista Metronomo and Sim for the info).

For more info (if you’re good at Spanish) here’s a news report by MTY regarding the MTV World Stage event:

Another news report, this time around by El Horizonte, shows us a little more inside look at the soundcheck/preparations for MTV World Stage. Check it out:

Jeff donated his guitar to Université de Sherbrooke’s School of Music

Today, October 1st, on the International Music Day, the Université de Sherbrooke’s School of Music held a special press conference to announce the donation to the school by Simple Plan’s lead guitarist Jeff Stinco – his own acoustic guitar – after being convinced to do so by his former schoolmate Jean-François Desrosby, lecturer at the Université de Sherbrooke. “A musician’s instrument is often more than just a simple tool: it’s the medium used to relate his or her soul to the public. I am quite pleased that Jeff so enthusiastically agreed to donate his valuable instrument to the Foundation so as to benefit future generations. I also hope that the instrument’s own history will inspire recipients to pursue their dreams every time they pick up the guitar,” said Jean-François Desrosby.

Jeff Stinco also commented on his donation: “Handing over my own guitar, which I used as a student of the Montréal conservatory, is a symbolic gesture. I couldn’t imagine passing it on to anyone not in the next generation of musicians. This guitar let me develop my potential and I hope that it will do the same for the student receiving it. The guitar holds a great deal of sentimental value for me. It has a number of outstanding qualities. Its high level of precision charmed me and the guitar has the gift of amplifying what the player asks of it.”

Before finally handing it over, Jeff decided to play the guitar one last time during the press conference. Check out the first pictures from the press conference and of Jeff’s little acoustic performance in the gallery:

And finally – LaPresse.ca already published a video documenting the press conference which can be viewed by clicking on the image below:
