10 years in the eyes of Simple Plan

Sim published a new video of the official website, in which all members of Simple Plan talk about the last 10 years of their lives and how the record No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls has changed them forever:

Recap of today’s webchat with Simple Plan

Simple Plan have prepared a 30-minutes-long webchat session with their fans to celebrate together the 10th anniversary of their first album and answered tons of fans’ questions (those that were submitted to them earlier and also those that the fans asked directly during the chat) and also added a few stories from back when they were starting off as a band.

This time around, the guys didn’t forget to record it, so if you missed it, you can now stream it here, or read the quick recap below:

Recap of the webchat from March 19th 2012

– the guys popped some champagne to celebrate the 10th anniversary of their first album
– when Simple Plan were recording their first record, Sebastien was only 17 years old
– Pierre gave the fans direct instructions on which of his moves should be made into animated gifs
– because they couldn’t afford a hotel back when recording No Pads, Arnold Lanni let them sleep in the studio, where the six of them (5 members of the band + Patrick Langlois) slept in one room with no windows on bunk beds
– Arnold has forbidden them to sleep in the living room, which they did anyway and once after they moved the beds, he caught them, got really mad and threw them out of the studio and the guys had to go to a hotel that weekend
the guys announced in the webchat that starting today, in order to celebrate their 10 years of albums, they will be playing some sort of a “special montage” – which will be seen for the first time by the fans in Neu-Isenburg today
– SP expressed their first reactions on the first cut of the Summer Paradise music video they’ve just received, saying it’s “awesome” and that it should be ready for the fans to see in a week or two
– Simple Plan promised to come back to tour the whole South America

Concert in Eindhoven, The Netherlands

Yesterday, as a part of their European tour, Simple Plan stopped in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, where they played for hundreds of local (and also not-so-local) fans. During soundcheck, the guys surprised their fans from the SP Crew with their own rendition of Wonderwall by Oasis.

This concert was also very special because of the number of opening acts: Simple Plan had not only their permanent openers We The Kings there, but also the bands Destine and MakeBelieve.

Make sure to check out the photographs from this show in the gallery and below also one of the awesome videos made by Rowann, which captures a few sex jokes the guys had fun with before playing Summer Paradise and also the whole song in its live version from Eindhoven:

10 years since No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls

The day has come! Today, March 19th 2012, we commemorate the 10 year anniversary of the release of Simple Plan’s very first album “No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls”.

Shortly after Sebastien and Jeff started putting together a new band in 1999, Chuck joined them after his departure from Reset. The guys were still missing the lead singer, so after many failed trials, they finally called their good old pal Pierre (who was also the reason Chuck left Reset earlier) and tried him out. Things started going really good and after they recruited David (who has in the meantime managed to replace Pierre in Reset and leave it just as quickly), the band was formed in May 2000. In 2001 the guys started recording their first record which was released in March 2002.

Ever since 2005, this record has been certified by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) as double platinum – as the only Simple Plan record so far – for selling more than two million copies.

For the band, their first decade has been really successful – they’ve released 4 albums, are still in the same formation that they started as (which is a very unique thing in the music industry) and they’ve travelled the whole world. So congratulation guys for the anniversary and good luck for the next decade :)

If you’d like to celebrate today’s 10th anniversary of their debut album with Simple Plan, make sure to be around at 4:30pm CET on their official website for the live webchat with the band. :)

Simple Plan revealed a brand new section for their 10th anniversary on their official website today, in which you will be able to remind yourselves of all the tracks from No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls, also of the live version of these tracks from the Live from Anaheim album and some of the old school covers and b-sides the guys have recorded back then, like Happy Together or One By One.

And below you can watch a video of the guys looking back at the past 10 years:
