Pierre among Young Artists For Haiti!

Few days ago, we’ve informed that Pierre revealed on Twitter his participance on “a song for Haiti”. If you have been following our Twitter and Facebook updates, you already know that we had kind of a hunch that he had been talking about the so-called Young Artists For Haiti project. And now we can finally confirm we were right!

Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan truly is one of more than 50 canadian artists, who have been asked to participate on the Young Artists For Haiti project, which gathered talented artists to re-record a song, originally by K’naan – Wavin’ Flag (you can listen to the original version here).

The names of all the participants should be released during this week, but thanks to the video from E-talk we are certain that besides Pierre, artists like Jacob Hoggard (Hedley), Nelly Furtado, Avril Lavigne, Lights or Justin Bieber also joined this project. Check out the E-talk video right here:

“With the wealth of young artists coming out of Canada, it was obvious that this is something we had to do,” says musical icon Bob Ezrin. “K’Naan’s lyrics in Wavin’ Flag embody the pain, passion and determination of the Haitian people and lend the hope of a brighter future. The response from the artists has been sensational, and I am so proud that together we may help to make a difference.”

“I’m honoured to have experienced the soulful energies of so many talented individuals who contributed their voices and expertise to ‘Wavin’ Flag’,” says K’naan. “The unity and spirit of everyone involved in the recording reminds us that we all share in the responsibility to help. We can’t let the situation in Haiti fall off the public’s agenda.”

The song and the video will both be released this Friday, March 12th, and all the proceeds will go to Free The Children, War Child Canada and World Vision Canada in support of their on-the-ground efforts in Haiti.

Sebastien on Busking For Change

As you already know, Sebastien from Simple Plan was yesterday a part of the so-called Busking For Change event – during which canadian musicians were busking for change in the subway stations in Montreal, raising money for the War Child organisation.

Apart from Sebastien, also other canadian musicians attended this event – for example the bands October Sky or The New Cities or the signer Jason Bajada. Just like on his mini-tour, Sebastien had a little help of Frenchie with supporting musical instruments.

The money that was raising by this event (and which can still be donated online) will go to the War Child organisation, which helps children affected by war – by the way every year it’s about 200,000 children their and families.

Out of all the musicians that played in the Montreal’s subway stations yesterday, Sebastien managed to attract the most people.

Sebastien said: “It’s for the kids, you know. Two thirds of war casualties are children and when you see that statistic, you don’t have a choice, you have to be generous, you have to make a donation, and you have to get involved somehow and that’s why I’m here, I guess,”

Patrick’s Objectif Coulisses already made a video about Busking For Change, where you can check out how the event looked like and what the musicians said about it. Even thought the video is in French, it’s definitely worth watching!

And finally here is one video right from Sebastien’s performance on Busking For Change with his song Life Goes On:

Local canadian stars ruled the closing ceremony – apart from Simple Plan also musicians Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morisette and Michael Buble performed.

Also. even though most of the Europe was asleep at that time, Simple Plan managed to get into the “Trending Topics” on Twitter!
