Simple Plan release a new comedy sketch: Weekend at Broco’s

As we’re sure you’re well-aware, Simple Plan have always been quite the jokers and once in a while they like to surprise their fans with a funny comedy sketch video. Previously, we’ve lived to see some hilarious and unforgettable sketches such as ‘Do You Got Wifi?‘, ‘You Alright?‘, ‘Pierre’s Day Off‘, ‘Chuck Comeau, a serious man‘, ‘100K on Instagram‘ or ‘I’m a Ninja‘. So to honor the ending of Warped Tour, Simple Plan could not miss out on this great opprotuniry to create yet another comedy sketch – this time featuring Don Broco, the British band that members of Simple Plan got really tight with over this summer on Warped.

The video, entitled ‘Weekend at Broco’s’, spoofs the 1989 comedy ‘Weekend at Bernie’s’ and as such the whole plot revolves around Simple Plan unintentionally killing the lead singer of Don Broco, Rob Damiani, by partying too hard and then trying to maintain the illusion for the rest of Don Broco (and the rest of Warped Tour) that he is still alive by making his lifeless body do a bunch of everyday things. The video features a number of special guests – let’s see how many of them you can recognize:

‘I’m Just A Kid’ should be Warped Tour’s anthem according to Travis Clark (We The Kings)

With Warped Tour saying goodbye and farewell with today’s very last show, Alternative Press asked a number of artists, who appeared on the tour, which song best describes the atmosphere of Warped and could be considered its “national anthem”.

Many band members put their two cents in on this topic in the video, leaving quite a number of songs as the best contenders for a possible Warped anthem. Sebastien Lefebvre from Simple Plan for example named Pennywise’s ‘Bro Hymn’ as the most appropriate song for a Warped anthem [Seb appears around mark 10:25 in the video].

But our favorite tip for the anthem of Warped definitely came from Travis Clark, the lead singer of We The Kings, who had some very nice things to say about Simple Plan, who’s song ‘I’m Just A Kid’ he’d personally like to see up for this title. Check out the full video at the end of this article, but first, have a look at what Travis said about SP below:

‘If I had to pick one song of We The Kings that I thought was a Warped Tour anthem, it would be a song called ‘Check Yes Juliet’, which is our very first song, you know, that we ever kinda put out and promoted. But a song for the whole tour… I think Simple Plan’s ‘I’m Just A Kid’, which I think was written like 16 years ago for them, or 17 years ago. And it just totally encompasses Warped Tour at its core, where we’re all just kids that love music. And I hear them play it, and people just lost their minds. It’s a really cool thing to be a part of something with, you know, people that I love. I love Simple Plan to death – they are our brothers. And it’s definitely a Warped Tour anthem. Everytime I hear it, I get kinda giddy inside.’

Janick Thibault, Cody Carson & Elton Castee joined Simple Plan for I’m Just A Kid in Orlando

On the second-to-last ever Warped Tour in Orlando, FL, Simple Plan brought another bunch of guys to perform I’m Just A Kid with the on stage, as a special surprise to the crowd that came to see them. This time around, Simple Plan welcomed on stage their old friends Janick Thibault from Story Untold, Cody Carson from Set It Off and the third personality to jump on the stage was Viner and YouTuber Elton Castee, who was later seen completely fangirling about this special opportunity on Twitter.

Check out a short clip of Janick, Cody and Elton singing I’m Just A Kid on stage with Simple Plan, while Pierre took over the drums and Chuck went crowdsurfing last night in Orlando:

Chuck Comeau to join the ice-hockey match before Simple Plan’s Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron performance

Back in February it was announced that Simple Plan will be the main musical guest of this year’s 10th anniversary edition of the charitable ice-hockey match Pro-Am Gagné-Bergeron, which will be taking place on August 9th in Centré Videotron in Quebec City, Canada.

But it won’t be just the performance that those who’ve already purchased the tickets to this event can look forward to Simple Plan-wise – one of the members of the band will actually be one of the amateur players who puts on skates and joins one of the competing teams that will otherwise feature a number of players from the NHL. And who else could it be than the only almost-pro hockey player in the band – Chuck Comeau.

In a recent interview for Journal de Quebec, Chuck revealed that he will actually be playing on the team featuring one of his good friends – San Jose Sharks’ defenceman Marc-Édouard Vlasic.

August 9th will surely be quite a busy day for Chuck – since the 40-minute Simple Plan performance starts only a few minutes after the end of the match, Chuck will have to save a lot of energy during the match to keep up with his fellow band-mates. Chuck’s in a very good shape though, so we’ll sure he’ll give both of his performances everything he’s got.

Check out the just released promo video for the match, which also revealed that Simple Plan Foundation is one of the beneficiaries of this charitable event:

Another Warped surprise: Pierre joined State Champs on drums in Atlanta

It is no secret that Pierre Bouvier always wanted to be a drummer – after all that’s what the whole I’m Just A Kid switcheroo on recent Simple Plan shows in based on. But what would it be like if Pierre was drumming a completely different band instead, you ask?

You can actually see for yourself! Last night at the Warped Tour show in Atlanta, GA, in the middle of the State Champs set, Pierre switched places with Evan Ambrosio, State Champs’ drummer mid-song and finished the rest of the song from behind the drumkit. Check out the awesome video Pierre published on Instagram, which documents this great moment:
