Simple Plan performed ‘Vacation’ on soundcheck in Argentina & new merch revealed

On Tuesday, May 22nd, Simple Plan opened their final run of the No Pads tour in South America, at the Teatro Vorterix venue in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Before the show, the band as always greeted some lucky SP Crew fans at soundcheck, where they performed a very rare song to be performed live – ‘Vacation’.

Remind yourselves of this popular New York Minute track live in Argentina below:

The addition of ‘Vacation’ on the soundcheck setlist did not however change anything on the regular show setlist and the guys went with the same-old No Pads one [check it out here]. The show was a lot of fun, even included a long chant by fans and overall the guys seemed to enjoy themselves on stage – as you can tell from the new pictures from the show in Argentina:

What was however surprising was the new merch that was available at the show in Buenos Aires and might be available on the remaining South American shows too. The image, published by HellMerch, shows us two new t-shirt designs – one featuring a picture of the whole band with red scribbles over their faces and one featuring the band’s name on a ribbon ties around four arrows (UPDATE: According to SPB, the arrow design would only be available in Argentina). You can see the merch more clearly on the video HellMerch also posted here.

Chuck, Jeff and Marie-Mai performed ‘Jet Lag’ as surprise guests at Fondation Evenko event in Montreal

Chuck Comeau recently flew from California to Montreal for a couple days – and one of the reasons why he’s currently there has been revealed yesterday. Last night, Saturday May 12th, Chuck and Jeff took part in the charity event organized by Fondation Evenko in Place des Arts’ Théâtre Maisonneuve.

The event celebrated the talent and hard work of over 200 students from the Fondation Evenko program, which offers free singing, guitar and scene oriented visual arts classes to young Montrealers facing the risk of dropping out of school, giving them a place to practice their talent and improve their future prospects.

On Instagram, Jeff joked that it was Chuck who convinced him to appear at this event “because he missed him”. The truth is, Simple Plan often get involved in causes like this, since helping young people find passion in life through the practice of music is one of the goals of their Simple Plan Foundation:

Hanging out with Chuck for a special appearance at Place des Arts in Montreal. He won’t admit it but he missed me so much that he convinced me to play a song with him during our time off between Australia and Brazil (are you Brazilians ready?) – it’s for a good cause, our friends Evenko are putting a show to promote cultural development among youth. It’s a lot like what we do with the Simple Plan Foundation so we’re stoked to lend a hand.

– Jeff Stinco –

During the evening, the talented students were accompanied by various local musicians including singer Marc Dupré, musician La Bronze and others with a special surprise appearance by popular singer Marie-Mai and Jeff Stinco and Chuck Comeau from Simple Plan, who accompanied her on guitar and drums respectively and together they performed a ‘Pierre-less’ version of Simple Plan’s song ‘Jet Lag’ (Marie-Mai previously sang the female parts on the official French version of this song).

Check out a short video of the final part of their performance, after which Marie-Mai introduced Chuck and Jeff to the audience:

And while we’re still waiting for some more official HQ photographs from this event, you can have a look in our gallery for some first snaps of Chuck and Jeff from last night that have already appeared online:

How Chuck and Jeff became DJs in Melbourne for a night

This Tuesday night in Melbourne, Australia was very special. After Simple Plan finished their second sold-out show in this city (and we’ll get to reporting about that and the earlier ones that we missed in the next post), Chuck and Jeff left to the local PLASTIC club, where they were scheduled to appear at a special guest DJ afterparty that they would be DJing themselves!

The party started at 1am and tons of people gathered to check out the drummer and the guitar player spinning the records and making sure everyone had a great time. The guys put on quite a lot of pop-punk classics – from Blink 182 all the way to Simple Plan of course – which you can after all check out for yourself from the collection of Instagram Stories that were published on Simple Plan’s Instagram throughout the night:

Also make sure to have a look inside the gallery for a couple of pictures from Chuck’s and Jeff’s special DJ set:

Simple Plan returned to New Zealand with a first show there in 13 years!

The time has finally arrived and Simple Plan are officially back on tour for the first time in 2018. And for this tour they decided to survive the long flight all the way to New Zealand, where their kicking off their Australian/New Zealand No Pads tour! As expected, David is still not joining his bandmates on this tour, while he focuses on getting better at home.

The first show took place tonight in Auckland, New Zealand, where Simple Plan performed in a local venue called Powerstation.
