Simple Plan performed ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’ at Purdue University

To finish their North American tour off in a style, Simple Plan chose for the final show to be a free show at the Purdue University in Indiana, where thousands of people gathered to see SP play.

Since it was a university show, most of the people there were in their 20s, it made sense for Simple Plan to add a very special song on their No Pads setlist – that song being ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’, a.k.a. the title track for the self-titled animated TV series from the early 00s.

Check out a video of SP performing this song at Purdue University last night:

Pierre drums with The Bottom Line on their final show in Canada – in Quebec City

Last night in Quebec City, the guys from Simple Plan had to say goodbye to their friends from The Bottom Line as their run on the tour was over and they had to head back to the UK for other shows. That is also why the fans in Quebec City got to experience a couple of sweet interactions of these two bands while on stage that night.

During the Simple Plan show, The Bottom Line brought back their “on-stage pranks” that they used to do on Simple Plan during their party medley’s in Europe (coming on stage while being dressed in something ridiculous) – and invaded their stage in Quebec City too to the point that Jeff actually fell down on his back, when one of the members of TBL brushed past him.

At first however, it was a member of Simple Plan who got on stage during The Bottom Line’s set – when the band invited Pierre to play drums with them on their song ‘Insecure’. Check out a video of this moment SP.cz captured in Quebec:

Simple Plan celebrate Chuck’s birthday on stage in Toronto

On Saturday, the members of Simple Plan returned to The Danforth Music Hall in Toronto, Canada, also known as the venue where they filmed the concert scenes for the Singing In The Rain music video and SP.cz was there to document this show for you.

Fans started gathering around the venue already after 9am and then patiently waited all the way until 6pm when the doors opened and they were let into the venue.

This show was the only one on this Canadian run, where the fans were able to enjoy one very special opening act – the popular local band called Not By Choice, who have not performed in over 10 years and only reunited for this SP show. Not By Choice was the final opening act right before Simple Plan, preceded by Courage My Love and The Bottom Line.

When Simple Plan hit the stage, one could already tell by the extremely loud cheers from the crowd that we were about to witness quite an astounding show. And indeed we did! Jeff summed the concert in Toronto up with these words:

Toronto was the sickest show of our Canadian-No-Pads tour. Ontario is where it all started for us; we have tons of friends here that I’m really happy to have seen tonight.

– Jeff Stinco –

The show was filled with enormous energy both from the band and from the crowd to the point where an incredible amount of crowdsurfers enjoyed the sea of people under them – sometimes even multiple times.

Simple Plan performed their usual setlist of this tour, however there was one additional song that appeared during the night, which was when Pierre decided that since we were just about 2 hours away from Chuck’s birthday (today, September 17th), it was time to sing him ‘Happy birthday’. I managed to capture a big of this moment on the video below:

And since we’re already talking videos, here’s a special little treat for you: ‘Opinion Overload’ live at soundcheck in Toronto:

Pierre’s brother Jay discusses his journey with lymphoma on BT Montreal

Yesterday, to support the World Lymphoma Awareness Day, Jay Bouvier, Pierre Bouvier’s brother, who went through lymphoma cancer about 10 years ago [and who inspired Simple Plan’s song ‘Save You’], appeared as a guest on the morning show Breakfast Television Montreal.

In the beginning of the spot, the connection between Jay and the Simple Plan song was made and Jay then talked about his journey with cancer and how he became a cancer survivor in the end and now helps support various related causes by discussing this illness publicly and in this case supporting the upcoming Take It To The Mat event supported by Lymphoma Canada.

Simple Plan celebrate their light guy’s birthday on stage in Guelph

On September 14th, one member of Simple Plan’s crew – Didier Lachance, their light technician [you can read more about Didier here] celebrated his birthday and of course the guys didn’t wanna let that celebration just slide, so they decided to wish him happy birthday right on stage and have the whole crowd in Guelph sing to him.

Check out the two videos originally posted on SP’s Instagram Stories that day documenting this fun celebration. Happy birthday, Didier!
