Countdown is almost over: Simple Plan to start recording tomorrow in L.A.!

For over a year now, we have been following the song-writing process for the new Simple Plan album and we can officially say that the times of lack of news are finally over. As announced two weeks ago, Simple Plan will be entering the studio tomorrow, on March 1st, and according to the band members’ recent tweets, they will be recording this album in Los Angeles, CA this time around.

For the past few weeks, the band members have been getting ready to enter the studio in many ways: Sebastien and Jeff have been practicing the new songs on their guitars and Pierre and Chuck met up yesterday to wrap up some more song ideas (unfortunately, David’s absence on Twitter didn’t allow us to look more closely at his own preparations). Pierre also started packing up the gear yesterday and Sebastien also started packing his clothes for this trip to L.A. Jeff, David and Sebastien, who out of all the band members do not reside in California, will most probably take the plane to the west coast either today or tomorrow morning.

Starting tomorrow, we should expect a lot more updates about the progress of the recording of Simple Plan’s fifth album, which hopefully also means the return of the vlogs.

And what do we currently know about this album? The album, which will hopefully be in all our hands by this coming summer and should be a return of the band to its pop-punk roots, will feature about 11 songs, which will be chosen out of more than 60 songs that Pierre and Chuck managed to write during the past 17 months. Of course they have had some help over that time: the guys have been song-writing with many successful song-writers in the music industry including a few members of bands you might have heard about once or twice. I’m talking about Josh Ramsay (Marianas Trench), Alex Gaskarth (All Time Low), Mark Hoppus (blink-182), Sean Foreman & Nathaniel Motte (3OH!3) and Michael Clifford & Callum Hood (5 Seconds Of Summer). Simple Plan have also already revealed one of the songs that should be on the record – “Boom” – which they performed live for the first time on the SPF event last year.
