Mini-news from the last few weeks

Because there has been a lot of very short news about Simple Plan in the last couple of weeks and due to much more important news (about the new album, music videos, singles etc.), there just wasn’t time to post about them, I have decided to sum them up in one article. Check them out:

Simple Plan and Marie-Mai in Francie
Simple Plan’s official website published a very interesting news about the upcoming SP show in France, on June 7th: Simple Plan will welcome to the stage of this very intimate concert their fellow canadian singer Marie-Mai and together they will perform their first single Jet Lag for the first time outside Canada.

Canada Sings to air on Global TV in August
Few weeks ago, Pierre Bouvier from Simple Plan finished the shooting of a new Canadian TV competition show called “Canada Sings” (which is being compared to a cross-over between Idol and Glee), which he attended as one of the judges, alongside Jane Arden and Vanilla Ice. According to Canadian Business, Global TV will start airing the show this summer – on August 10th 2011.

New photos from the Get Your Heart On! photoshoot
The official Simple Plan website has been through a lot of changes in the past couple of days, thanks to which we now have lots and lots of new photos, which were taken to promote Simple Plan’s new album Get Your Heart On! and as such were used in the website’s design. You can now check them out in the gallery.

Where are Simple Plan heading in November?
That’s a really good question. A lot of rumours about the upcoming brazilian festival called SWU (taking place in November) have been spreading around: mostly about which particular bands will be performing on the festival. People are talking about Foo Fighters, MGMT, and also about Simple Plan as the hot candidates. Though, none of the speculations have been confirmed yet. Plus, we have to take in account the fact, that Simple Plan are also rumoured to do a European tour in November with You Me At Six.

Intimate SP show for MusiquePlus
As a part of the promotion of their new album, Simple Plan will perform on an intimate show on June 20th (one day before the album’s release) in L’Astral, in Montreal. The whole show will be documented by MusiquePlus two days later. Fans can win 30 pairs of VIP tickets through MusiquePlus and as such be able not only to attend the show, but also personally meet the members of the band.

David on stage with Face To Face
It’s no mystery that David loves to sometimes play onstage with other bands than Simple Plan. For example, last year, you could’ve seen him play drums for the song “Looks Minus Substance” with The New Cities. But this week, David switched to another band, his teen idols, Face To Face, to play bass with them on their recent show. You can check out David making his “dream come true” on YouTube.

EW’s review of “Jet Lag”
Simple Plan’s first single “Jet Lag” is doing very well – and not only on the radio charts. The American magazine Entertainment Weekly has recently published a short review of the song, giving it a “B+” rating, marking it as a “loud and surprisingly lovely pop-punk pounder about intercontinental relationships.”, and adding that “with the next Blink 182 album still MIA, this will do just fine.” As the critics are usually not very fond of Simple Plan’s work, we should take this review as a huge success.

“Untitled” music video yet again to prevent from drunk-driving
And a little cherry on top: in the state of Virginia, special ceremonies are being held three times a week for the young drivers-to-be and their parents, in order to inform them about the possible consequences of risky driving. To draw the attention of the young people, the policemen decided to begin the ceremony with the showing of Simple Plan’s music video for the song Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me?). Among other things, the video deals with the effects that drunk-driving can have on entire families. This is not the first time that this video has been used to alert people from taking such risks while driving – Untitled has also been a part of the Don’t Drink And Drive campaign.
