New Simple Plan album to be released late summer/early fall

Tomorrow, Simple Plan will be back in Toronto, Canada, where they will be interviewed by CP24 Breakfast in the morning, launch the FIFA Fan Experience and also play a free show at the Much parking lot (8pm) as a part of the FIFA Trophy tour.

Simple Plan’s drummer Chuck Comeau was recently interviewed by Tribute.ca about the upcoming visit of Toronto and the new album. In the interview [which you can read in its entirety here] Chuck mentioned that it would be too early to perform some new songs in Toronto tomorrow because it would “ruin the surprise of the album”, however the fans may still expect some “more recent ones”. It is possible that Chuck meant some of the songs from the band’s most recent EP Get Your Heart On: The Second Coming (2013). However, the official Simple Plan Twitter asked the fans today if they wished for SP to play some new songs in Toronto, so there may still be a chance.

Regarding the new album’s sound, Chuck said: “I wouldn’t say it’s a new direction, it’s more like everything people like about the band, enhanced even better with some new influences, we are really excited about it.” The band still have about a month left of recording, after which the post-production and promotion of it will begin. Chuck once again confirmed that the band does not have an official release date yet, however that they are trying to reach their deadline, which is late summer or early fall.
